In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. I've noticed most people with the Dynomax VT and MSA cat delete combo.

Has anyone just done Dynomax VT only?

If so what are your impressions?

Also if I get the Dynomax VT 2.25 version would i be able in the future to install the MSA cat delete?

let me know:D

Re: Dynomax vt

There is no connection whatsoever between the MSA cat delete and a Dynomax VT. You can have one or the other or both with no conflicts.
The cat delete is "non detect" insofar as sound. It still is quiet as OEM. So, any comparison can be made with just the Dynomax VT.
I had the cat delete and Dynomax VT on my 2011 4.6. It was a wonderful combo. No problems with 30K miles when I sold the car.
The Dynomax VT is tricky to install, requiring an inventive installer. It appears that the bodies of Dynomax VTs are the same irregardless of intake/outlet diameter (comfirm this). The 3" which has center inlet/outlet may be easier to install -necking down to 2.5".

Re: Dynomax vt

I actually think the MSA makes a noticeable difference in exhaust volume. The VT plus MSA is a perfect combo and one I'm probably going to keep for a long while. The VT by itself was a bit quiet for my tastes.

I'm just trying to see if the Dynomax VT by themselves are loud enough.

I know that's subjective but some people have complained of them being to quiet.

Although, some videos I've seen of just the Dynomax, show a nice rumble on start up and hard acceleration.

don't know if its worth to get the MSA

So do the mufflers first and test it out. Cat deletes are a simple bolt on.

thanks for all the info!

one last question before i pull the trigger should i get model 17155 (2.25) or 17156 (2.5)?

i think i read somewhere that the stock piping is 2.25

i just talked to a exhaust shop and they advised me to go with the 17962 because its center/center offset?

is this right? i've everyone go with the 17155 or 17156

I'm fairly certain center/center is exactly what you're looking to avoid.

I'm like others and think the VT's alone are a bit too quiet. I have the MSA cat deletes on order and should be getting them shortly.

For the VTs, get the 17155s. They are a perfect fit in the OEM muffler location on my R-Spec, and don't need to be angled like other models do.

I've had the Dynomax Vt's (2.25 diam.) since April 2014. I posted some pictures of the install. They fit well on an R-spec. After a year and a half I would say that the mufflers are a bit too quiet for my tastes. Yes, it's slightly louder and has no drone. But if I was doing it over again I think I would leave it OEM. The cost/benefit ratio is not worth it.

Offset/center were the only mufflers that worked for me (Used small Magnaflow Magnapack mufflers), originally tried offset/offset BBK Varitunes, but was no way to fit them in the factory location.

Mufflers have to be canted upwards (Pointed towards outer body, like this \ / ). Offset inlet/center outlet places it perfectly inline with factory inlet location and bumper cut-outs.

UPDATE: i put in the dynomax VT mufflers and i see what you guys mean, its very quiet.

i'm planning on doing the MSA x pipe and was wondering does the x pipe remove the secondary cats?

From the looks of it, it seems the X pipe only remove the h pipe with the square resonator correct?

also, it seems the xpipe is 2.5 inch does it bolt up directly to the stock piping?

sounds amazing! how did you put the LED's in the fog light?

The Xpipe bolts up to the stock piping correct?

The x pipe was a custom welded job but it does bolt straight to the back of the secondary cats. The fog lights were a huge project! ^^
