  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Muffler delete insanity is over.

I'm liking the Dynos.
nice and quite unless I mash the pedal pass 50% and then it seems the sound swells in proportion to throttle imput.
the car is almost as quiet as a stocker.
think of it this way. That truck or mustang sitting next to you at the light rumbling...the VTs don't do that. That truck or mustang droning down the highway next to you, VTs dont do that.
that glorious V8 turbo muffler wail upon hard acceleration...you guessed it. VTs do that.

There is no clanking
If you want a civilized quiet car 95% of the time but would love to uncork a beast the rest of the time then these mufflers are for you.

If you wish to sound like the trucks and mustangs during all driving conditions then install anything you want besides Dynomax VT's

I have been considering doing the same. Did you do any cat deletes, or change the resonator, etc. Now that you've done it and like it any suggestions?

All cats and center resonator are left alone.
These VTs are just slighlty louder than stockers in my configuration.
there is no noise in the cabin unless you mash the pedal.
I think I was wrong when I said 50%...probably more like 70 throttle to get the valve to open.

I think but don't know, if you start removing cats and the resonator you will be negating the idea and purpose of VTs

The car is genuinely quite unless you stand on the gas, so befitting of this fine car.

Will this effect any warranty on the car?

I wouldn't think so since one sees this done to so many new cars and trucks but then hyundai might be the one that says its a no no.
In short, I don't know.

So, could you please tell us what model VT's you settled on? I would like to do exactly the same thing for my 2112 R-spec.
Thanx

I'm at work but I went by what my exhaust shop recommended which is a 14" length and a center in center out configuration. On the website there is only one model that meets the requirements.
Also it is a 3" inlet and outlet but a good shop will have no problem making them fit.

Thanks for the feedback and the pics. Much appreciated

Later but I can relate for now that they are just pipe that was formed into a oval and placed into the holes horizontally if that paints you a picture.

No rattles or clanks at all, that old issue with the flapper valve clanking was resolved long ago.

Installation is tight but a good muffler shop can make it work for you.
(If you are in the Houston area I highly recommend FMG Exhaust in Crosby)

After living with it for about 10 days I can honestly say I have absolutely no regrets.
It's only loud if you nail it and even then it's not obnoxious but it is loud from behind the car.
The car sounds stock the rest of the time.

I seriously couldn't be happier.

+1. I agree with you in every respect. Bonus points go to these mufflers for that little muscular "vroom" that happens right when you start the car. I've noticed a number of heads turn in various places at that sound. :D

Just in case anyone wants to hear these on a 4.6, here's a video I did a while back when I first got mine installed. My setup is the same as 2112's (i.e. everything stock except the mufflers):
