If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

First off..thanks for all the great info on the site.

I purchased a 2009 3.8 sedan with a build date of July 2008. I would like to update the nav unit without having to worry about crashing the DIS. Also, I see that this is not currently covered under the P06 campaign because the build date is too early.

So has anyone heard of a campaign to address earlier builds than Sept 08 or am I out of luck? And if there is no way to cover this under warranty am I safe to purchase the most recent set of discs and install those or shoud I wait? Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

I purchased my Genesis on July 31st, 2008, so my car's build would have to be June '08 or July '08.

Ed Voyles Hyundai in Marietta updated my nav software last month with no problems at all, and everything is working just fine.

I contacted Genesis customer service directly and let them know that I considered it a problem that they were ignoring their earliest adopters. Within a week, they had authorized the dealership to perform a "courtesy upgrade" of my nav system.

I did explain to them that I didn't view this as a courtesy upgrade--this was a necessary upgrade because of inadequate software design initially (I notified Hyundai on August 1st regarding the car's lack of randomization on the iPod connection, and it took them until this release to remedy that oversight). The person I spoke with, whose name was Lance (I believe), agreed with me.

Don't give up the fight--and feel free to cite me as one Genesis early adopter who was given a free upgrade. I told them I wasn't keeping it a secret...

Thanks for the information. I have tried contacting the genesis support number as was told that it was up to the individual dealership to update or not as a courtesy to the owner. I was told that they have no ability to actually authorize payment to a dealership for work done. Guess I will have to follow up with them again.

Just had my Nov 09 TECH have its NAV upgrade to 3.0.0 completed yesterday. Though it took dealership 3 days- I was supplied with free loaner- a brand new Genesis.
As we have seen in these posts, not exactly a simple procedure and the Hyundai dealers are learning, just as Hyundai N America is on this difficult upgrade procedure.

My guess is that future cars will have a different upgrade system- because it is way to costly. Mine was free under TSB- but Hyundai surely paid the dealership.

Anyone needing service in Mentor Ohio- go to Classic Hyundai there- they are top notch.

Ok..spoke to the service advisor again and confirmed with the hyundai assurance number that the P06 campaign does not apply to my vehicle.

They checked this by VIN number and was told my car did not apply. It looks like the P06 that covers the update under warranty only applies to cars built after Sept 08.

Can anyone that has his this done to an earlier build let me know what tsb this is covered under so I can inform the dealership. At this point it seems impossible to get someone to cover this under warranty here in Norcal.

Streets,

The P06 update IS A SIMPLE PROCEDURE! My dealer, Orlando Hyundai, (OH) and their Genesis Technician Mark, did the procedure in less then four hours.
I took the car in at 8am and was out before noon. If any dealership or technician has trouble doing the P06 update, they are not following the Hyundai procedure to the letter.

BTW, I highly recommend Mark at OH for any Genesis work. He knows what he is doing. If anyone lives anywhere close to Orlando, make an appointment with OH's Service Department and have Mark do your service. As I've said before on this BB, I love the OH Service Department. (Sales is another story <grin>).

As I said, I called Hyundai Genesis Customer Service, explained to them that this was a real issue for me, and they authorized it with the dealer. However, to be fair, Ed Voyles Hyundai said that they would have covered it anyway... but I wanted Hyundai USA to understand how unfair I thought it was that they were discriminating against their earliest adopters.

Rage against the machine... it will get your update covered!

CTRCBOB- Thanks for the info- I know it should be simple, but like other posts here- the DISCs do not eject correctly, after 3 hrs the program does not "take" and they have to re-due.

Anyone after upgrade notice that the destination ICONS are no longer except for the thumb tac/ push pins?
