  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm currently in the deciding phase on whether or not to buy a G70. I've put down my deposit, and have been talking for a few days with DJ here in Edmonton. I know that there are a couple of owners that have had their cars for a short while now, and I'm curious how the cars have been. Does everything work as advertised? Any issues? Or conversely, is it even better now that you're finding any nice little surprises with the car?

Overall i love this car and do not regret making this decision at all when it comes to picking the G70 over the german cars i looked at.

My biggest issues so far are

Fuel economy on Sport Mode is really bad, i mean really bad but you should only drive in this mode when you are ready to rock and roll so fuel probably wont be a concern but compared to previous cars in sport modes this has sub par fuel economy. Even Comfort is not good on fuel but eco is pretty good so i either drive in Sport or Eco.

My only other con is that i am starting to see a bit of wear on the outside seat bolster for my left leg/hip on the driver side. I am about 230lbs so a little heavy lol but i should not see wear this early on the leather bolster.

I do have a couple small gripes that i included on my youtube vids but those are just normal little wishes i would have liked

Everyone that sees the car loves it and the performance in Sport Mode is insane, if you have not test driven yet you should do so, if you have any questions let me know

Potentially a very useful and informative thread. I look forward to reading others' reactions.

I did have a chance to drive it last week, so I agree the performance is quite good. I would have liked the transmission to be a bit more aggressive, but I'm coming from a number of fairly heavily modified cars. This will actually be my "slow your ass down" car compared to what I've owned in the past.
As far a fuel consumption goes, in sport mode, I'm guessing you're getting mid-13L/100km?

My daily commute in Sport and driving sensible with no mashing the gas which is in town and about 17kms i get ( what my car tells me) 24L / 100km

Wow. That really is bad.

I'm likely going to go for a second test drive next week, so I'll see what numbers I get then. Even my old Skyline GT-R got better than 24L/100...

I was baffled by the fuel economy to the point i was checking for a gas leak lol but everything else is amazing i would only take one of the competitors if they were the same price and even then its still close.

10 MPG is brutal if it's what you're really getting. Was that estimated by the car's computer or actually measured the old fashioned way by identifying how many gallons it took to refill and then dividing the miles driven by that amount? Either method can be pretty far off if the distance driven and amount of fuel used are minimal. The longer the distance, the more accurate. My Mazda RX-7 rotary Twin Turbo, which I considered the ultimate gas hog, got 12 MPG when I was flogging it. 10 MPG would be something not seen since the 1960s full-size American guzzlers.

This isn't a car I'd be looking to get stellar gas mileage but I was assuming something considerably better than 10 MPG. I haven't checked the conversion math, going from metric to MPG. Might there be an error there? 10 MPG is hard to imagine. Well, just checked the math. 24L/100KM is 9.801 MPG. Yikes!

Yeah, I think there's something off here - the car should be getting around 12 or 13L/100 (22-sh mpg).

This is measured by my cars computer i reset the trip info and have gotten 22-26L/100km on 3 trips travelling about 17km each trip around town

It's actually 9.8 MPG.

24L / 100km
6.34013 Gal / 62.1371 miles

That is brutal...I don't believe it...impossible. That would be about right if you are absolutely mashing the pedal.

Buckdes, is there any chance your car is measuring in MPG instead of L/100km?

I was literally just going to ask that...since the range of 17 (mashing) to 24 (eco) sounds just about perfect in MPG !!!

Also...why L per 100 Km. Should be 4.16 L/Km (24 L / 100 Km).

My 650HP Corvette gets better gas mileage than this, wow, like 15-16 mpg around town 22 Highway US.

If you are getting 10mpg there is something wrong for sure.

It is definitly in L/100kms but i just drove the car back from the detail shop about a 35km run on the HIGHWAY i got 10L/100km

For some reason around town and even idling the fuel economy is atrocious i will test again in the morning but i have been making a point of looking at this and taking notes as even my wife mentioned it

Yeah mine is showing about 21L/100km. Way worse then my mustang GT got. Hopefully it improves once the car is broken in.

Are you both finding that the tank is draining quickly? Maybe it's just calculating the consumption wrong.
On a side note, how is the ceramic and film working out on your car, Homer? I talked to JR and he mentioned that he did your ceramic coating.
