Disclaimer - I am not aware if someone else found this fix prior to this post. I am writing this from my own experience.
First of all - I own Canadian spec 5.0 AWD.
Recently got involved in an accident, cracking the headlamp lens.
I then salvaged a used part from Ebay which happens to be a US spec.
...
.....
This is where it gets interesting.
Assuming this would be a plug-and-play, I dropped a bumper, took the cracked lamp out, then put the new one in.
This was the result with my DRL on (parking brake off):
...and with HID on:
Clearly LED wasn't working as a DRL in this case.
Studying both lamps a bit closer I found this:
Figure 1 - US spec connector wire
Figure 2 - Canadian spec connector wire
Notice the extra wire on 3-pin connector to the right on Canadian version.
That white wire ends up where the external connector sits, and this extra wire goes right in the middle of 4 pins on the bottom of the connector
(Sorry no picture taken for this one)
So out of desperation, I took the white wire out of the cracked lamp, then put it into the new lamp - I needed to be careful not to snap any plastic pieces and narrow metal pins when doing so.
The new lamp started working just fine after all this little hack.
Let me know on what you think...
