  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I wanted to know if any other members here have used EBC brake Pads on their genesis? I've used both EBC Green Stuff (to much brake dust) and EBC Red Stuff (very low brake dust, much better bite than green stuff) in the past.

I think I saw someone had put yellowstuff on and were thinking of going to rdstuff. I would also be interested if anyone has any input.

I've used EBC Red Stuff in the past and was very happy with the performance and low back dust. Just wanted to know if anyone here is used them on a Genesis Sedan.

Good deal, as I expected EBC Reds are the $hit! I love me some EBC Reds, time to order up a set for the front and rear. The Genesis is a heavy sedan, and what ever help you can give its brakes is most welcome.

I'll probably be on the same route with the red pads whenever my OEM pads will wear out. The OEM pads are quite impressive in terms of average drivers stopping power and they last forever. I've replaced my rotors with drilled/slotted R1 concepts and combined with a sticky Conti DW and a 245 tire width it's pretty comical how hard and in such a short distance the car can stop and get back in control if I was just a little over the edge.

Anyone here have the Stainless Steel brake lines on a Genesis Sedan? I really liked the combination of SS lines and EBC Reds on my GS300, the firm brake pedal feel and the hard bite of the EBC's made my GS feel like if it was a lighter car!

I have changed Stainless Steel brake lines and replace disc with bigger ventilated hole, still feel the initial is weak. I think stock brake pad has fast Thermal Decay, and consider to replace.

Problem with aggressive pads is you need heat. Oem has a good cold initial bite but wont hold up the heat and vice versa with more aggressive pads.

You are correct, but with all my past autos I've used EBC REDs and the reds have an extremely good cold bite and only get better as they reach their correct temp. One of the best attributes of the EBS REDs is that they are an extremely low dust pad compared the EBCs Green Stuff that have less bite when at temp and the Greens are extremely dusty pads. I had a set of EBC REDs on a GS300 and I can tell you that they held up very well in day to day stop and go traffic as well as spirited runs.

Nice feedback, never tried EBC, always been a fan of Hawk HPS but the cold initial bite sucked, even when warm it didn't seem to have the torque I'm looking for. Now I'm trying Carbotech xp10 and xp8 rear, granted this is on the supra but the brakes are very close in size as the genesis. The carbotechs have a very good initial bite when cold and once warm you literally feel like your eyeballs will pop out on hard braking.

I've never used "high performance" brake pads. What could be expected by switching from the O.E.M. pads? I find the brakes on my unmodified 3.8 to be particularly good...mind you I don't take my car to a track or drive aggressively on the streets. Would the brakes become even more sensitive? Would one stop in less distance? What about brake dust? The OEM's are really clean. There is barley any brake dust on the rims.

To answer your questions and I'm referring to the EBC Reds

"Would the brakes become even more sensitive?"
I would say not more sensitive but more responsive on initial braking
"Would one stop in less distance?"
YES very much so
"What about brake dust?"
Just as good as the OEM pads, very little brake dust
