  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just had my G70 3.3T in for servicing and they updated the coasting software. Immediately I noticed that the car no longer coasts when I take the foot off the gas. In other words, I notice immediate and sustained deceleration as soon as I let of the gas as opposed to before where it would coast for a good minute losing maybe 5-10 km/h on a flat surface.

I asked them about it and they had no clue...

Is this an isolated incident, and if not, is there an official reason this feature was removed? Any patch notes I could look at?

Coasting only works on Eco and Smart-Eco and only when the engine and transmission are up to a certain temperature. Not on cold start or for a bit after it.

Yeah, I keep it on Eco most of the time. To give you a good example. I drove from Tampa to Toronto in one continuous drive. Engine temp should definitely not have been an issue and outside temperatures ranged from 27C (80F) to -5C (23F) on relatively flat ground. It should have triggered a whole bunch of times during this drive.

Before the update I could frequently see the 'Coasting' notification come up on the info cluster.

Check to see if COasting is on in the menu. Maybe it got unchecked!

Looked at every available option - there was nothing for coasting :(

Like @danygenesis mentioned, it is under vehicle settings and it was probably unchecked. Oddly enough I just noticed that mine was unchecked which I thought was odd but I had my car in for service last month so maybe that happened to me as well.

You can see the option in the picture below:

Pro tips here, I'm not sure I ever turned it on. With my recent run to and from Seattle I ran in Eco most of the way, to good success, but I don't think I ever saw coasting pop up. I'll have to check that out.

Thanks everyone! The feature had indeed been turned off during servicing (it comes turned on from the factory, so I never had to turn it on in the first place!)

Interesting feature. What is your liters/100km's in Eco mode - coasting? I suppose if there are some decent gas savings it might be worth it........

...na. I bought the 3.3T for one reason and it ain't saving gas!!
