  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My ecu got fried and I’m having a hard time finding a fix for it. Is that something that can get repaired or can I get a used one and the dealer or someone flash it to my car? If anyone has the answer please reply. I need my car back and I’m trying to see if I can do this without buying a new one and getting it installed.

Just two comments, not a really good answer.

I took my Sonata in for service and they said they would do a software update. They did, fried the ECU and had a new one shipped overnight rather than attempt repairs.

At work, one of our machines went down because of a circuit board. It would take a week and $3000 for a new one. I took it to a guy that does TV repairs in the basement part time. He looked at it and saw a resistor that did not look right. Soldered in a new one and asked, is $10 ok? Gave him 20 and the machine was up and running minutes later.

I have no idea of the cost of an ECU nor do I have a clue as to what may be wrong with yours, but there are people that can troubleshoot standard components and replace them, but would be no help with a programmed chip. It may be worth checking them out in your area.

A quick Google search shows there are companies that may be able to help you.
