  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis GV80
Don't know how I'd feel about this:

Does this lower the price? For example bmw has already been pulling standard options already, but those deleted options are shown with a discount on the sticker price.

I was wondering why the window sticker for a prestige model had a list of non included items yesterday. Screw that if I'm dropping 75k I want every feature. What a setback.

on the G80 at least there is a $200 discount in the US if HDA II is omitted.

Even if they knock it down by a grand you'd still feel something every time you drive the car. I've been using the features in my volvo and its game changing. It's saved me from accidents 4 times in the past 2 years

It's a bummer. Some of those features were the reasons we were looking to upgrade from our current vehicle and focused on the GV80. I'd wait until the 2024 model year to see if the situation is improved but by then, Genesis may only be making electric vehicles.

Ya and that might be a good thing, honestly I'm scared of shelling out savings to buy the gv80 if in 2 years they will have an EV version of it. But I don't have the luxury to wait 2 years' I'm due for a new car now. My suggestion to you is don't order. Look for one in a lot now, there is a way to search all dealerships on the genesis website to see what's in stock like I'm doing. You can see window stickers, everything coming in after march it seems will be missing features.

So I’m not clear on what they’re saying. Does this mean that my 2021 GV80 prestige that has a window sticker listing HDA II on it, has been removed by an update? I have yet to learn how to activate it properly. Or maybe I did it properly and it had already been removed. Ie I have not used it yet. Does it say anywhere that if your car came with HDA II, it will keep that software configuration?

No, this is referring to new builds. The window sticker on these specifically shows features that are not included, and lists those features that are noted in the article. You should be good.

If your car came with it, it's not going to be magically removed. They can't get enough parts to build cars with it right now. In the past (when yours was made), they did have enough of those parts.

Thanks much. I have a feeling that the couple times I tried implementing the lane change assist and failed to activate it, I probably was not on the right highway type required. I kind of tried to do it on the fly, and may have neglected some critical detail. I’ll have to study the manual closer. Thanks again for helping me out.

I thought Genesis might “magically” deactivate my hardware by nixing my associated software in an update so newer 2022 model buyers don’t feel bad. I’m glad they weren’t that cruel, for my sake :-)

Are you holding the blinker at the "B" position? The B position is half way to the full on position of the blinker stalk. Hold it at B until the lane marker on the dash turns green and it will change lanes.

True. The first time I intuitively (but wrongly) tried it in the A position. The second time I put it in the B position and nothing happened. I suspect that I did not have the minimum road type condition to do the maneuver. Similar to the way cruise control only works above a certain speed. I will review the manual and have the manual with me when I to the next trial of the maneuver. At least I know from this thread that the capability has not been taken away from my 2021 GV80 window sticker promise of having HDA II. Thanks much for your help. I appreciate it.

I was told the new 2023 gv80 will not have the HDA II, only the HDA. Chip availability problems.

Just spoke with a buddy who bought the new loaded Audi Q5. He said he received $200 off because it was absent the wireless phone charger due to lack of parts. So I was curious what other brands, besides Genesis (eg HDA II), are experiencing unavailability of expected features. FYI The following interesting Car and Driver link answers this question. It’s from November and things appear worse now. After reading the article, this reader response made me laugh:
[ cha1711] “I don't see anyone crying due to the loss of cylinder deactivation or auto/start stop. For the minimal gains it is just unnecessary complexity, cost and aggravation. Thank the federal gov't...”

I wanted to give your post a “Like” but I didn’t want forum members to think that I “Like” that the 2023s will not have HDA II :)

I was just told by my salesperson that the chips are expected to be available after March for production.

I don't think anyone truly knows anything but what we do know is if you're in the market for a car in the next 6 months start looking now and jump on one where they havent skimped on features. It would very unfortunate to drive such a beautiful gv80 missing features. It would bother me everytime I say in the car
