  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Electric GV70

WOW, I just did a Google search for Electrify America near me. Only 2, 15 and 30 miles away. Hard to believe seeing that I live near Cleveland.

Thanks! My electric box is in the garage. I believe there's extra space. House was built in 2001. So, not too old. My wife works for a building department and knows lots of contractors. I'm just trying to do my homework before making the jump. Have there been any major issues with the Electric GV70?
So far only one recall for the ICCU unit that needs reprogramming, mine is scheduled on the 19th, but for a new car I'm sure they would update it at the dealership before you get your hands on it. If it's not built yet it will probably already be at the correct version of firmware by then.

Other than that I only read some horror stories on a shock tower going through its support on the front right side, but it looked like it only affected a batch of 2022 ICE cars, keeping fingers crossed...!

Thanks for taking the time! I appreciate you!

We currently have 2 electric GV70s and both have been free of any problems or issues. I also had 2 ICE GV70s before and I notice quite a lot of difference between the gas and electric versions, beyond merely being quicker and quieter. The electric version is much more solidly built as well as being much more confidence inspiring, given it doesn't have any of the hesitation issues that some have reported on this forum.

Have you done a test drive yet? I'm glad to see US versions now have more colors to choose from.

Here's a snapshot I took recently of my matte gray eGV70.

Not yet. May go Friday. Dealer has a silver one with black interior. MSRP just over $74K.

I provided the picture above because I thought you might want to consider getting another matte colored one for the electric version. So far I've seen another Uyuni White, a Mauna Red, and a blue (not sure what the blue color is called anymore) electric GV70 out in the wild, and the demo I drove before i ordered was the Savile Silver with black interior. So far, I'd have to say they all look good. Don't think you'll go wrong with any color.

Yes, I love the matte finishes but they don't have one. If I like the silver one after driving it, I'll have to decide on that one (as I also love silver) or ordering one with a matte finish. Decisions...

Yeah, Savile Silver is underrated. I really like that colour.

This is the Savile Silver that I test drove. Does look good!

Mine just went in to check out front-end vibration while highway driving - they brought up the ICCU issue which they said they would take care of and another about replacing the door panel - I didn't totally understand what he was saying, something about the panel delaminating ? I'll get more details once I get it back. They are also going to the necessary updates to get me the wi-fi hotspot and the update regarding the brake lights not coming on quick enough when using iPedal

He did tell me this was their first eGV70 being worked on at the dealer - I hope they know what they're doing

I signing off of this forum as we got our deposit back yesterday for the GV70ev(arrived in Vancouver port this week)...which they did with no issues. In the end, too early us to buy this EV with it's limited range, my wife did not like the quality compared to the MB GLE450e....yes it's a PHEV, but fits our needs for small commutes and long range travel. Might change my mind in a couple of years as Genesis evolves further. Enjoyed all the chats...cheers.

Anyone with range anxiety with the eGV70. I was just reading the specs. Just a 236 mile range for around $75K? Hmmm...

I don't have any range anxiety. I haven't been using the eGV70 for long road trips, but now that we're on course to have access to the Tesla Superchargers, things will only get better.

Enjoy the GLE! I've always loved the look of the current gen GLE with its very muscular rear haunches.

There's nothing perfect really... The iX will go further, but is 2WD only at the price point of the GV70, you have to pay a good deal more for AWD. The Q4 e-tron will have even less range and much slower charging speeds, not to mention a plasticky interior. The Model Y will go much further on a charge, but I can't say I consider it a luxury vehicle and it's discouraging to see no assembly quality improvements after so many years in production.

For me 236 miles is enough, but I'm not say a realtor agent constantly on the road, it all depends on your needs. The big questions are: How much mileage do you do on a given day and do you often go on long trips, if so how's the charging infrastructure where you travel?

Good points. Thanks!

Sorry to see you leave but something to consider; I have had 2 MB vehicles. The first was a 2013 GL350 diesel and the 2nd a 2018 GLC43 AMG. This is the vehicle I traded off to buy my GV70e.
MB vehicles are nice but expensive to repair and maintain. You say the GLE450e is a PHEV. That means you will still have an engine to maintain, plus the electric motor portion. It was my MB experience that the service was good, but they really sock it to you with maintenance costs. On the other hand, the GV70e has 5 years/100K km free maintenance and an 8 year/160K km warranty on the electric motor and related components and the battery. Hard to beat that!
If you only have one vehicle, a PHEV has it's advantages tho. Fortunately we still have a 2nd gasoline vehicle; a 2020 Hyundai Palisade. The vehicle we purchased to replace our first MB, the GL350.
