  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Electric GV70

Sorry to see you leave but something to consider; I have had 2 MB vehicles. The first was a 2013 GL350 diesel and the 2nd a 2018 GLC43 AMG. This is the vehicle I traded off to buy my GV70e.
MB vehicles are nice but expensive to repair and maintain. You say the GLE450e is a PHEV. That means you will still have an engine to maintain, plus the electric motor portion. It was my MB experience that the service was good, but they really sock it to you with maintenance costs. On the other hand, the GV70e has 5 years/100K km free maintenance and an 8 year/160K km warranty on the electric motor and related components and the battery. Hard to beat that!
If you only have one vehicle, a PHEV has it's advantages tho. Fortunately we still have a 2nd gasoline vehicle; a 2020 Hyundai Palisade. The vehicle we purchased to replace our first MB, the GL350.
I really liked our C63 AMG, it was so much fun. But like a lot of German and British cars, you wouldn't want to keep it past its warranty period. In more recent years, i can't really deal with the thick black bezels around their infotainment screens. What's up with that. (GV60 is also guilty of it too, though.)

My first BMW had some issues, the second one was such a disaster I just hoped it would spontaneously combust and be done with it. Since then I vowed to stay away from German brands as what I read was in line of that being the experience to expect... Too bad because they're a hoot to drive! 🙁

I've been pretty lucky with most of my German cars. The S4 had a serpentine belt failure. One of the R8s had a high pressure fuel pump issue. The other R8 had an issue with the clutch. The A6 had a moon roof that opened by itself sometimes (so weird). Fortunately, all were dealt with under warranty, including the full clutch replacement on the R8 which you wouldn't normally get since it's a wear and tear item. The 740i however, well that one was not so good. Lots of electrical and A/C problems on that one.

My 2013 GL350 diesel had a few problems, altho nothing major. Twice I had to have a seal in the turbo area replaced. Once under warranty and the 2nd under extended warranty. The final straw was the heating element in the DEF tank had to be replaced. $500 for the heating element and about $800 labour, if I recall. And to top it off, the extended warranty I had, did not cover that repair. Also, it seems every time I took it in for a routine service, the bill was always over $1,000.
On the other hand, the 2018 GLC43 I had was great, altho it only had 34K km when I traded it off for the Genesis. But again, the service costs were high. At the time of the final service before trading it off, the rear brake pads and rotors required replacing. That plus the routine oil change/maintenance cost me $1,800.

Drove the eGV70 Prestige today. WOW, I was impressed. I'm only 3 months into my current lease but am definitely considering going electric with the next one. I'll continue watching this thread and learning from all of you. Oh, and that boost button blew me away!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I see the same menu options in the app as you but still cant get surround view monitor to work even after updating the app.

Has anyone decided on what to do for corrosion protection with the GV70EV? would traditional spray on rust protection void warranty?

Can you explain how you can access this in the Genesis app? I've gone through it in detail and I can't find anything that shows the surround view? Looking at Youtube videos - it appears you need to click on a "map" icon that is not showing up on my version of the app. Maybe I'm missing something?

Switched to winters on 18-inchers, missing the 20's already...

I don't know why this site randomly screws up the orientation of pictures I upload, even turning them 180 degrees won't fix it, and there's no option to rotate on this page so I give up...! 🙄

Hello,

Quick question, have any of you tried successfully a box that will grant your GV70 wireless Android Auto/Carplay?

I tried a crappy one which kept flashing green and red, connecting and disconnecting, and sent it back to Amazon. Anyone had some degree of success with one of those devices?

The Motorola unit seems to be a popular solution to that around here. But it only works for Android Auto.

I'm considering getting the electrified GV70 , panning on buying the advanced trim, I noticed that many people here have opted for the prestige trim. Has anyone here purchased the advanced trim? If so, do you regret not choosing the prestige? Additionally, could someone share their thoughts on the audio quality in the advanced trim? I live is USA Thank you

Most certainly a must have, IMO.
We only have the Prestige in Canada, but I must say that having a premium sound system in a very quiet electric car (Made even quieter with active noise cancelling) only adds to the experience, the HUD is cool too, and the upgraded materials feel very nice to the touch. Would I have settled for a lower trim if it was offered here? Possibly, but then I would have really missed on the above items.
