  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Electric GV70

So this morning I had the car maxed out to 100% (Hadn't done it in weeks), at -7C it stated the range was 335 Km. I did 71 Km going to and back from work, getting a good deal of traffic going (Good for recapturing energy) and a bit more decent highway speed coming back, but with some stretches of traffic too.

Since the car was plugged in the morning, I used that to warm it up to 22 degrees, but then lowered that to 18.5 and used the Driver Only mode. I drove it in Eco mode and i-Pedal (Except on the highway where I set it at level 3).

When I came back home, the car stated it had 80% battery and 295 Km of range left, my return trip was using around 24 Kw/h. So it used 40 Km of range on a 71 Km trip, not bad.

I think the recent snow storms where I spent more time warming up the car while cleaning it than actually going anywhere made it rather pessimistic in its guesstimate, but I'd rather have that than too optimistic and end up stranded...🤷‍♂️
That’s pretty good consumption. I should had quantified the temperature for my cold weather drive. It was -35. Another observation was that the ride remained quite soft. In extreme cold many suspensions get very stiff. I was impressed.

Oh, yes -35 is pretty much as cold as it gets! I often get 27-30 Kw/h consumption below zero when going on highways, yesterday it's the traffic that helped me.

Good to know the ride didn't degrade and kept its luxury attributes in such frigid weather! Also nice that you can just switch to drive and go without all the oil-bathing components of an ICE cat feeling like their stuck in molasses...! 😉

I never realized how amazing an EV can be in winter driving conditions. I love the immediacy of the cabin heating with the heat pump. Has anyone figured out how to turn on the heated seats with the app though? I can only activate the heat pump, window and mirror defrost, and heated steering wheel.

Same here, heated (Or cooled) seats are apparently MIA!

Interested in answer. I have not been able to figure out heated seats either. Thanks for asking question.

I am in southern ontario and like @Wolf359fb , get heavy snow and salt. I do hope to keep the car for long term so wish I could use rust protection without voiding warranty. I have heard the online horror stories of the Toyota hybrids failing with rust eating away the cables underneath.

Love to hear from @Wolf359fb and anyone else on what they go with.

The undercarriage of the GV70 is mostly enclosed and a mixture of aluminum and plastic. I don’t think there’s really anything for undercoating spray to adhere to. There are some stamped steel suspension components but the actual load bearing ones are aluminum.

I agree, I'm not sure there is a need for extra protection. Sometimes I see gen 2 Santa Fe's going around rust-free, they have to be a good 20 years old and I doubt every owner had them rust-proofed. I remember Mazdas rusting 15-20 years ago (When they had a partnership with Ford), I see Civics and Accords of two generations ago that lose their clear coat on every horizontal surface of the car (Hood, roof, trunk), but other than that I can't say rust is as big an issue as it was 25-30 years ago.

Pros of rust-proofing:
- The obvious, less likely to rust.
- Added value down the road if the car is rust free.

Cons:
- Piercing holes and potentially weakening a pefectly sturdy car structure.
- Not sure those holes aren't where rust could start (Exposing metal that was previously protected).
- Risk of touching some wire and breaking something electronic while drilling.
- Goodbye new car smell.

Personally I'll do without, anyways I had the car PPF'ed so that should take care of rocks denting the paint and starting corrosion on the body.

I drove to the office today in about 7" of snow. Absolutely zero problems even on the stock Primacy all-seasons. The commute includes uphill and downhill sections. Lots of other cars, delivery vans, and buses stranded making the journey a bit of a slalom course.

Love this car.

This is the result of my ride this morning, it was -11 with a windchill of -17. I warmed up the car while it was still charging, started with 385 km on 100% full charge. Fan speed set to 2, with Max heat and headted seats at full.

So if you look at the brochure for the newly revised Genesis app, you can see that both the heated seats and ventilated seats are not available for activation via the app for the Electrified GV70. Check it out:

That's for the Canadian version, not sure about the US.

So your range was reduced by ~100km after a 25km trip? I'm not seeing quite as much range reduction with mine, but yeah, winter conditions really take a toll on range.

I can't fully describe how nice it is to have doors that wrap down and around the door sill when you're driving around in this yucky snow/sludge and have to get in and out of the car all the time. My pants are completely clean!

I will try and post pics of my Tuxmats again in the smallest setting. The mats give the greatest coverage of any mats I have ever seen. They even go up the side of the centre tunnel to the base of the console and in the back seat area, up to the base of the seat. There are clips included that I installed after the pics were taken to affix to the console base.

Tuxmats are the best. The first gen of the mats was too thick and had a glossy finish. I had gone back to WeatherTech, but the revised Tuxmat construction has addressed all my criticisms with the original version. The only negative might be that it’s not the type of mat that easily removed for a quick cleaning, but that’s just because the coverage is so good.

I took out the front mats to clean without any problems. You just have to make sure where the clips are.

Not sure if all of you have already seen this, but there's a very sneak peek of the refreshed eGV70 here. I think I prefer the current wheel design more.

I think I prefer those wheels to the ones on the top end ICE GV70 (The ones with a waffle pattern on them), but prefer the wheels of the Electrified GV70.

I'm not crazy about the pixelization of the headlights à la GV60, I prefer the current design. I'm also afraid the beautiful dash layout will be replaced with a big stand-up glass panel (Like the GV60) and we'll kiss goodbye the current curvy look...

What's really odd is the new single-screen infotainment system in the facelifted GV80 is one continuous screen, whereas there's a separation in the GV60 right where the steering wheel would otherwise obstruct part of the display. Maybe the screen on the GV80 will just have that section blacked out or something, but if there's actual content being displayed in that area behind the right side of the steering wheel rim, it would be most unfortunate. For the time being, I cannot see anything I'd trade the eGV70s in for.
