  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2015 3.8 sedan, and ive had some small electrical issues that have become more concerning and more frequent with time. first incident was my entertainment screen would suddenly go black for a second or two then come back on like nothing happened. second small incident was my drivers side headlight was off, came back on after turning the car off and back on. then i started noticing when in reverse the screen goes black for a split second, then goes right back to the camera. following that was steering issues in reverse, loud thud at certain points of turning the wheel and intermitten toughness of the wheel when turning it. now about two weeks ago i was driving around 50mph and completely lost all power and control for about two seconds all warning lights came on and had to coast to a stop as i didnt have throttle or brake response, with a very loud bang from under the car, and there was nothing in the road to possibly hit. now on top of that today when i went to start it, it clicked twice then had a slow start, next few start ups were fine. or when shutting the car off it doesnt have that typical few seconds of music and push my seat and wheel back, it just gives me the first two seconds of it and then everything stops and all screen go black. and just replaced the battery a few months ago. can anyome possibly help lead me to a diagnosis or solution??? thought maybe eps issues, but how would that affect start up or total loss of all power to the car?

I would start by checking all main battery positive and ground points from trunk to engine compartment. Remove, inspect and clean those connections. One bad main ground (battery or engine to chassis) can cause all kinds of havoc.

Get it scanned. It will probably show trouble codes but any voltage drop for a fraction of a second can cause CAN bus network errors to mimic just about any module having problems.

all grounds are good, all fuses and relays are good. As far as autozone's scan tool can see it couldnt find anything, alternator and battery tested fine. got stranded in a perking lot earlier today because it wouldnt start, then it turned itself past accessory mode to on when i wasnt even in the car, obviously didnt start the engine on its own lol but i called the autozone i spent half my morning at an they had me go back in but still couldnt find any issues, they recommended i take it to a shop of some sort to try to actually get it diagnosed, but all shops around me are booked until almost march.

I would tend to agree with Arcman. Just because the battery was replaced, it doesn't mean the new battery isn't defective. Has a load test been performed on the battery?

yes, load test was performed this morning and the battery was said to be fine (allegedly), did find someone on here with the same issues and it could be that the inner part of the positive terminal has worn down over time. i plan on checking that tomorrow hopefully thats where the issue resides since it would be a simple fix.

The positive battery terminal would have been one of the things I mentioned above to check. As a longshot, I would also check the two JB junction blocks below (these are in the charging circuit) along with the GE06 ground. Can't hurt.

perfect ill check those when i get home. i did check the positive terminal this morning and theres one questionable area, but all the other "teeth" are in tact, so im not sure if just one being worn down would be enough to cause all of that, its still secure on there.
