  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all I know I'm new here and I don't mean to spam a new post but I have a problem I'm hoping some of you can help me with.

I dropped off a client at a hotel when they asked me if I had a lighter; I told them I had one of those car cigarette lighters so I opened my center console to find 2 dimes stuck in the lighter port. I used my finger to stick and grab the dimes out, as I pulled the last one out I saw a spark that actually kind of startled me a little and now the cigarette lighter port and the car charger port aren't working, the LED's glow but there's no power. The rear seat port works fine but that doesn't help me or my clients riding in my car! Help!

Thanks PMC, although I don't smoke this doesn't help the fact that I need a working car charger on while I'm driving! If you have any more smart a$$ tips, please feel free to try again!

You definitely have an electrical problem. Someone placed the dimes as a "patch" on a known problem to close an open circuit. In removing the dimes you shorted the circuit blowing a fuse(s). Check fuses. There is a fuse guide in your owners manual.
Did you buy this car new? If so, then someone at a dealership did this before delivery. If you bought the car used, then perhaps a former owner/mechanic did this.
Do you still have a warranty on the car as warranty repair would seem to be the first choice?
Otherwise, replace the dimes. See what happens. It may cost some $$ out of pocket to get fully fixed at a dealership.

Thanks for the help guys, I checked the fuses and sure enough I found a 25 blown out, replaced it and works fine thanks!
