  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Electrical Problems

Avoid AGMs unless the car can handle charging AGMs (I am not sure about the BH), otherwise it might overcharge and degrade the useable life. Ultimately costing you more $ for nothing. This is more of a concern in warmer climates, but charging makes heat and charging at high temp (>120F) is bad juju for AGMs. Trunk mount helps with this.
Thanks for that info, I've wondered before if/how much the battery stays cooler in a trunk compared to the engine bay. (I suppose most of the time the majority of the heat would come into play when the car is shut off with a hot engine, since there would be no air flow in the engine bay)

BH is the Hyundai letter code designation for the 1st generation Genesis sedan 2009-2014. DH replaced it in 2015 (2nd generation body).

re: battery location
Yeah heat matters a lot, roughly halves the life of the unit. With the DOHC V8 and all the accessories there isn't room in the engine bay anyway, and there's better weight distribution with it in the trunk, trading off a bit more spend and weight on the harness. I get about 3 years out of a battery in a v6 Toyota, and roughly six years in my '12 4.6 (have had 2, not counting a defective unit that died <90 days).
