  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just bought a 2015 Genesis and took it to the dealership for inspection, from my first post:

Dealer Said Car Has Performance Chip

After someone suggested it might be exhaust cutouts based off how it was wired (tied into engine harness and controlled exhaust flap), I looked under the car and there it was. QTP Exhaust Cutouts (Picture Below).

My question is how do I get access to the Cutouts? I can’t find a switch anywhere (if anyone has suggestions where to look), and I’m wondering if I bought a remote how hard would it be to get programmed?

contact QTP:

on a side note, you might want to have a muffler shop remove those and insert a welded in pipe.

I have had cutouts in several hot rods they are a royal pain in the ass, they leak, they can cause issues with the CATs, and in most places they are illegal and good for a few hundred dollar modified exhaust ticket, in CA it will get your car refereed (Referee Program - Bureau of Automotive Repair) by the CHP, which is no fun to deal with and rather costly.

I’ve tried calling them, no one answers. I’ve left a few messages both phone and email so we’ll see.

I actually wanted to get these installed before knowing I actually had them. Due to where I live and conditions with driving it’d be perfect. I live in AZ btw, where I’m at right now I don’t need to get emissions testing.

I got an update on the Cutouts though. Found some of the wiring but no switch. Pictures posted.

If you’re in the Phoenix area there is a guy named Ted over at Big Jim’s Custom Exhaust who took my resonator out and installed an x pipe. He has a guy 2 or 3 garages down from him that does elec. and can help you with the wiring. I would highly recommend deleting your resonator if you plan on running the cutouts!
Edit: driving a ‘15 5.0

Yea I’m in Flagstaff but visit Phx often. Do you know the name of the place that does the wiring? Or if I gave him a call he’d know where to send me? Thing is I need my car to be quiet when need be, and loud when I wanna have fun. Would a res delete make it too loud?

On a side note, all QTP transmitters/remotes are out of stock/backordered everywhere.. I have to wait till late December to hope they’ll be back in stock, the wait is killing me haha

Res delete with stock mufflers barely sounds different than full stock exhaust, silent unless you’re at very high RPMs and even then the engine noise is louder.
Muffler delete by itself sounds kinda dull, doesn’t start to roar until they are both out.

I’m sure if you call them he can point you in the right direction.

I figured out all I needed was a new transmitter w/ new remotes. Couldn’t order one for a month or so because QTP was in the process of moving locations. I finally got it the other week and had a local audio shop install it real quick. Sounds amazing!! But you’re right, it could be better, I am planning on getting a res delete soon!!

Nice. Wish cutouts weren't illegal in my state.
