  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Yesterday, I fired up the Genesis to show off the cool widgets to a buddy.
I was dancing all over the function switches and the system locked up with no sound...no nav...no nothing. Screen was lit but the icons did not populate.
I was in traffic so I stopped the car and turned it off, thinking this would clear the system. Nope. Still nothing.
I drove 25 miles to a call, shut her down, came back to the vehicle and all was well and functioning normally.
Go figure?
Any ideas group?

With most newer cars I have experienced, I have noticed systems don't turn off unless you open and close the door, so i'm sure some of that corrupt juice was still running around until the system had a hard reset.

The electronics in today's cars are getting too fancy and complicated (I love them!). If I have the USB drive plugged in and start the Gen, sometimes it start playing by itself but not always.

I'm with Dimitry. Not sure about the door open/close, but I'm thinking it is the time for the internal capacitors to drain and bring the internal circuits to zero. In some circuit designs this is quick. Maybe. Maybe.
