  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Elite-level Hyundai dealers get 1st crack at Genesis stores

I am in LA and Keyes is the dealer that provided an outstanding experience when I bought my G90 and did great with my first valet service. They are about 15 miles away (but in LA that can be more than 40 min!). There actually is a dealer only 5 miles away but I didn’t think they showed enough Genesis knowledge and general ability to work with me for me to buy there. Interestingly the closer dealer is a stand alone Genesis dealer while Keyes also does Hyundai.

I certainly hope Keyes gets the Genesis franchise but we will see. It’s going to be tough with a stand-alone dealer within 10 miles of them. That’s the LA market.

You should shoot an email to Hyundai USA (corporate) or more specifically, Genesis USA.

The best dealerships (when it comes to customer experience) should be awarded Genesis stores.

If they are separate dealerships, it is not so clear cut as to which ones will be good Genesis dealers.

Sorry I don’t understand what you meant here.

I mean that just because someone owns a Hyundai dealership, that the same owner (or corporate auto group) is awarded and opens a separate Genesis dealership that there is no guarantee that they will have the same quality of service. If there are two different dealer GM's involved, they may do things differently. It just depends on what people they hire to manage and run the dealership.

In a similar manner, I can see that even though Hyundai corporate marketing generally does a very good job, Genesis USA management is incompetent IMO. For example, Genesis USA forgot to get permission to sell a new brand in Louisiana (and probably other states) and they have not made sure that all state DMV's know that Genesis is a separate brand (not a Hyundai brand). Not to mention the crappy Genesis website. This is true even though the Genesis USA GM reports to the CEO of HMA.

Ok I understand what you are saying in the first paragraph and I agree.

Your second paragraph is pretty much a regurgitation of what you always say without the slightest provocation. Repeating it doesn’t make it any more true or make anyone believe it. Just too easy to copy and paste.

Generally, one can find good service at a dealer group known for good service and poor service at a dealer group known for poor service regardless of brand (altho, there are exceptions).

I'll bet the Hyundai dealership of the dealer group that own that standalone Genesis dealership Mcc was referring to is not as good when it comes to customer service as Keyes.

Plus, don't see why Keyes wouldn't be putting their people handling Genesis sales currently towards an independent Genesis store (if they were to get one).

I think what you are saying makes sense. Keyes already know how to sell Genesis. Why not keep the Genesis sales teamselling Genesis (I hope).

No, what he is saying is that if the Keyes is doing a crappy job with customer service selling Genesis now at the Hyundai dealership, since the same employees handling Genesis will move over to the separate Genesis dealership (assuming they get one), that the same crappy customer service will continue at a separate Keyes Genesis dealership.

You guys are a riot.

I just got finished saying Keyes had done an OUTSTANDING job. YEH replied don't see why Keyes wouldn't be putting their people handling Genesis sales currently towards an independent Genesis store (if they were to get one). But anything to give you a laugh. It’s so easy, except when your bitterness shows through.

OK, I got confused and thought Keyes was the one you didn't like, but who is getting the Genesis Motors dealership. But because you said that Keyes is only 10 miles from the dealer who is getting the Genesis Motors dealership, and therefore Keyes will likely not get one, this whole conversation is ridiculous.

I am not bitter about Genesis Motors. I have a Hyundai Genesis, so have no reason to be bitter at Genesis Motors.

My next vehicle is going to be a SUV, and it might be interesting to see what Genesis has available, but I am certainly not bitter about the fact that none is available yet. That is their loss, not mine, as SUV's have taken over the automotive market. There are plenty of other SUV's to choose from.

Glad to hear it and truly best of luck. Maybe I mistook passion for bitterness. I know you feel strongly about the SUV situation and the CPO likewise. No need to go over it again for me, just saying your enthusiasm comes through.
