  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Comparing Audi A4 forum experience and wondered if G70 has similar responses. A4 owners say sometimes there is sudden braking when no reason while driving in normal traffic and normal steering conditions with attending risks and anxiety related to unexpected braking. Happens in reverse also, some there say.
Anyone here have experience with auto braking fore or aft operating in unexpected fashion?

Not at all. Why G70 would have such a problem if Genesis is not related by any means with Audi?

I’ve had the front braking happen to me unexpectedly once. I quickly moved in front of someone and the car thought I was going to have a collision and I could feel a dab of brake and abs sounding rumble that was negated by me having the accelerator pinned. To be fair, I cut it kind of close. It didn’t unsettle the chassis and all that happened was the warning beeps and me learning to keep a little more distance, thank you G70 for encouraging me to be a better driver haha

I have front collision warning set to the lowest setting btw

And if I misunderstood your post...no this car does not randomly brake for no reason in traffic. You’ve got to be coming up on someone pretty damn quick

Evidently the A4 has a much different problem. The Genesis sensor is on the front of the car and not active in reverse. I've yet so see anyone here mention unexpected braking. Many cars now have an AEB system but I've not found the complaints you see about Audi.

I've has occasional braking on my '18 G80 going around a curve on a highway when there's a slower car in an adjacent lane is slightly ahead of me due to the curve of the road. My radar pickes the car up and thinks it's a possible problem. Doesn't happen that often.

The computer needs to basis left or right according to the direction of my steering.

Had the same problem with my '16 RDX, also with auto braking.

Cross shopping with A4/5 (same car, different body styles) and this appears:

Pre-sense... - AudiWorld Forums

I prefer the settings option on G70. Just wondering if this is a common experience for auto braking vehicles or manufacturer specific.
DAP is driver assistance package and pre-sense is forward braking in Audi speak

I have not had a single instance of automatic braking on my G70. I drive it pretty much every day. Though I've only got 900 miles on it so far.

Looks like Audi is not the only one. Nissan is experiencing the same problems with the Rogue.

I agree. You have to be moving damn quick.

Also noticed that if you are already braking it will not add more force to it. If that makes any sense.

I have 32k miles of mostly highway driving AEB has engaged maybe three times. Twice in bumper to bumper traffic. Once when someone pulled out in front of me at 55. That almost made me have to go buy new pants.

One feature I don't get about "automatic braking" is how long the warning displays after I'm well clear of the vehicle ahead. Maybe it's just a BRAG that says, "hey, I saved your ass again". The one I get the most is when I'm coming up on a vehicle "SLOWLY" making a right hand turn with their ass end ALMOST out of the way. The only reason I get this warning is in my judgement I can ease a bit to the left to avoid their rear end. IF not, I would just apply my brakes to avoid rear ending them.

No problems for me. I did have my first auto-braking event the other evening while in stop and go traffic. The SUV in front of me rear-ended the car in front of her. I was looking left at something and the car slammed on the brakes in my stead. Lots of lights and noises, too :-) All this happened at about 5 MPH and there didn't see to be any damage between the other two vehicles. I am pleased with the performance.
