  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I got a flyer from HMFC offering a new 2013 genesis lease if I hand the old 2011 lease in now instead of December as long as there's less than 6 payments left. There's 5.
with these perks:

first 3 payments
$1500 credit
$250 towards wear & tear (bought lease ins. for this)
$400 towards overage (15000 miles under)

oh, and it looks like it's $3500 down payment at the moment on new leases.

seems reasonable if I was considering a new genesis (which I'm not).
I wanted to put this out there so others might know this sort of offer is coming (didn't find a ref on search) and also question whether this is worth doing.
I haven't done the maths but it seems like a fair deal.

Keep in mind these incentives come from Hyundai, not the dealer, so you can still negotiate with the dealer on the monthly payment of the new lease. I've found that the published lease deals offered by the mfg are often the starting point in a deal.

True, but a lot has to do with the residual set by Hyundai (which can drive the monthly).
Bottom line, to get out of a lease 6 months early without paying it off is a plus for me. Otherwise I'd be looking at the 2014 with envy until January.
;)

thanks all. I didn't realize there were negotiable elements still.

re: disgusting 2.5 year old vehicle. personally I leased because 3 years is about the limit I keep a vehicle for anyway. I tend to keep them clean and don't use it for family transport. So leasing is cheaper. if I didn't lease I'd be looking at a sonata. if I buy what I can afford to pay for, more vehicle for my money with a lease makes a lot of sense.

Good idea to consider a early flip.

well, I flipped but came out with a santa fe gls and a veloster for 100/month more than I'm currently paying for the genesis. so the wife's happy and that's worth a lot on its own.
