If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So after backing out on the 12' that had a new short block and losing out on the used 13' with 13k miles I ended up buying a new 14' R-spec in white with tan and brown interior. I like the black interior much better but the wife liked the tan (and this is her car after all.) So I got them down to 37k. Maybe not the deal of the century but I think it was a good solid price for it.

So I am debaging the H off the trunk lid tonight and ordered the winged badges for the trunk, hood, steering wheel, and rim logos. I have an appointment to get the windows tinted in 2 weeks and now doing research on mufflers. The car is very fun to drive. Turning of the ESC doesn't seem to totally turn it off. It will spin for a bit then the computer kicks in and stops it. Is that normal? Still trying to figure out the electronics inside. I don't see how to check the mileage (or change anything in the center of the speedo.) All it says is ECO off. So I need to spend some time reading the manual.

We are coming from a 2013 Cadillac XTS. The caddy was a nice combination of comfort and performance. Overall for comfort I would give the nod to the caddy but for performance it is not even a question that the Genesis wins hands down. Getting use to the dial in the center over a touch screen will be an adjustment. The CUE always gets bashed but ours has been flawless and is super simple to use. We have 2 more months of the lease left on the Caddy and I wont miss it when its gone with replacing it with the R-SPEC. I looked at a lot of cars before buying this and driving it to work to today made me smile.

Well congratulations on the R-Spec! What do you find more comfortable about the XTS? I'm going to guess it has a softer, more "warm" feel. Am I right? Perhaps a smoother ride... How about noise... Is it quieter inside the Cadillac?

The front seats in the cad are better in my opinion. I think they were a little bit more supportive and the leather was a little softer and they are bolstered better. I think the rear seats are about the same in both (although I am never back there.) The road noise in the Cad was my biggest complaint on that car. Its frigging loud in that car for a luxury car. The ride on the caddy is for sure better (meaning more comfortable but I knew with the Rspec suspension it would be more of harsher ride so I don't feel that's even fair to compare really. I am really impressed with how there is hardly any road noise in the Genesis. It is super quite in that car...

I believe you can fully disable traction on 2014's. I have a remote esc disable done to my 2010 and it works without issue.

Everyone battles that issue with ESC. That's why there's the ESC disable mod in the one of the threads on here.

Thank you and thank you!!!

You're right, it's probably not best to compare the softness in ride of the XTS to that of the R-Spec. As for road noise - I'm surprised to hear that about the XTS. I even drove one as a rental and didn't notice. But I probably wasn't paying very close attention. Cadillac really needs to fix problems like that. Road noise is acceptable in a Chevy - not a Cadillac.

I agree GM needs to fix some things and the recalls DAMN we had 5 of them in 2 years! Honestly its a nice car but its no where near the price they wanted for it. Stickered at 54k and didn't have nav or heated or cooled seats no sunroof etc..... I got a super cheap lease on it with zero down is the only reason we had it!

A full size luxury Cadillac - with no navigation, heated or cooled seats. That's their first problem. They need to "wow" people. Their slogan cannot be, "Pretty darn good"... It might as well have hub caps...

You just bought a lot of car for $37,000.

The ride will get less harsh after a few thousand miles and the suspension bushings wear in a bit.

Congrats.

Did you buy the white R-Spec from the Poway dealer or was that gone? Just curious.

It is white but I looked online at Poway and they were gone. A dealer in Tracy had 2 2014 Rspecs left. This one was on the show room floor. The other one was that greyish blue color. I wish the white one had black interior (as I think the black interior looks way better) but its the cashmere and the wife liked it so we got the white one. ITs a damn fun car to drive. I got stuck with the Caddy today. I ended up racing a new GS350 F sport this morning. WE went bumper to bumper and all I could think of was DAMN WHY DIDNT I HAVE THE R-SPEC!!!!!

That's great! I wanted white but shopped on price and got the best deal on the Perisian Grey. That bluish grey color. Lol. I don't think the color is that great but for the price I can forgive it. :) The white is nice.

I didn't know the R-Spec came in other interior colors other than black. Does your steering wheel have full leather or does it have the wood portion?

Yes, the R-Spec absolutely rips. I love coming off the line and just shutting someone down next to me. Lol. It's great! The thing that impresses me is how silky smooth the Tau V8 is. Lot of fast cars but the Tau is so smooth in its power delivery. It's just great.

No wood on the steering wheel. I liked the Perisian Grey personally. I like the white better but overall when I compared the 2 I liked the interior of the Persian Grey better and I would have bought that one but the wife liked the white. The Rspec does rip for sure. The only thing I have noticed is mine is flat off the line but I think that is more of a matter of the computer holding it back than the motor.. Still haven't had a lot of time with it yet as it only has 200 miles on it!

For me the Parisian Gray was my first choice. I shopped for Color first and then Price. My opinion, but I think this is Great Color !!
