  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My coupe has right at 21,000 miles on it now. I'd noticed the last couple of months the driving back and forth to work/around town mpg had gotten up to around 23/24 from 21/22 since I got it.

I'd been wanting to get it out on the road but also wanted to wait on the weather at home to get decent enough so I wouldn't have to worry about salt on the roads. I took it home this weekend to visit mom and my brother and we filled up three times. First one was Richmond, VA to Covington, VA and it was 27 mpg. Next one was Covington, VA to home (Greenbrier County, WV), driving around home Saturday and Sunday and back to Stuarts Draft, VA and it was down to 25 mpg. Then from Stuarts Draft, Va back to Richmond, VA it was 28.6 mpg. The mpg is always less in that area of the mountains and better in the flatter sections (duh!!). On that last section the cruise control was set on 77 and sometimes I was up to 85 mph when passing other cars/trucks.

I'm happy.

Drove down to Ramseur, NC for some french fries yesterday. Gassed up down there and got 28 mpg driving at 5 to 10 mph over the 65 to 70 mph speed limits most of the time. A little faster sometimes, a little slower sometimes.

Got into some heavy rain on the way back and did the speed limit for a good ways before running out of the rain at the VA/NC state lines. Haven't gassed if up yet to see what the return trip looks like.

I always hate these green peace mpg lovers. I would've chosen a different car had I wanted good mpg.

I just can't resist driving it like it should be driven. :P
