  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Engine Problem anyone?

Yes, yes I realized engine is DOHC and doesn't have lifters once I read your response and thought about it......................

Now.... I took it to the dealer today, and they found nothing. The only idea the 1 mechanic qualified to work on the Genesis at the dealer said is that when the engine is cold (MN) it takes a minute for the oil to reach all parts of the engine and is noisy because of this, OR it is the fuel injectors, which he stated is normal for this car.
If you haven't already switched to a full synthetic oil, maybe now is time to do so. I switched to Mobil 1 5W-20 at 1500 miles (which was yesterday).

Interesting... i dropped mine off and they have the regional expert coming on Wednesday. There's no way my noise can be viewed as normal.. it sounds like a diesel.

The noise my engine is making is very hard to hear unless you are right next to the car and may be nothing to worry about.

Well I got my car back on Friday. The good news is it turns out that they forgot a clip on part of the valve train. Why is this good news? Because this means it was a quality problem and not a reliability problem!

It took them all day to fix it and early on they told me that they would have to pull the engine to do it. Luckily, they did not as they were able to get the valve cover off they needed and fixed it.

Car runs great. What's funny is I now recall that when I picked the car up for the 1st time I thought I heard a very slight ticking. It all makes sense.

The Roseville service was outstanding!

I'm happy to have my "G" back! Damn it's a great car.

for me this is dissapointing in a way. i would expect that some where along the engines life hyundai runs the engine for a bit. and the person that does this does it all day long, and should therefore be able to pick up on subtle differences like this. YOU DID, and you might have heard what, 1 or 2 other of these engines running?

Check my post number 15 in this thread. I said that it sounded like a "Valve Keeper" or whatever it is called these days, and you saying that it turned out that they "forgot a clip" on part of the valve train sounds more like the dealer did not want to say that a valve keeper popped out. Very rare, but does happen.

Glad you got it fixed.
