  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

fyi, dealer replaced electronic parking brake module. 4.6 '12 with 43k miles on it. 4 trips to dealerships due to diagnosing an intermittent problem and they told me the module cost 2100. Ouch

The EPB light would come on after driving say 100 plus miles and when it did the auto hold and parking brake did not work. Next day it would be ok until more driving.

I noticed the light a couple of years ago but did not do anything about it. However it seemed to come on more often and with fewer miles.

I did not see anything posted on the net about this failure. Hard to believe a parking brake module would cost so much. I would hate to have to pay that bill myself. Of course now I wonder what other electronic gremlins are out there. I already had the sound kick out and mysteriously come back on. Oh well maybe that is the new world of cars with lots of electronic stuff on them.

Needing to revive this post, but in the past week, the EPB, e brake and auto hold (orange in color) have been coming on. For the first few of them, I could pull over, shit the car off, and then turn it on, and it wouldn’t be an issue. Now it’s definitely on, and it has not changed. I’m think this car is going to need an EPB module change as well. I’m going to try to disconnect the negative battery cable, and see if that works.

Not a cheap fix, unfortunately:
Not cheap at all.

I proceeded to go ahead and disconnect the negative terminal, to see if a quick wipe of the ecu would help, and low and behold, it went away. But then how much longer until it comes back? I’m hoping that it won’t, but only time will tell.
