  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

While my Genesis was being service I stopped in to look at the Equis in the showroom. Although the sticker price was $65000, the dealer had added on a protection package for $3500 and also $15000. I forget what they called the $15000, but salesman said basically there are not many Equis around and if you want it you will have to pay the extra $15000. Seems like a bad marketing strategy for a new car that is not exactly in high demand. The salesman who spoke broken English could not answer any detailed questions about the car. Good luck Equis!

It will never sell. $83500 you can get a SL550 , LS460L with all the trimmings. Advantage Hyundai was the $15K savings. Dealer is an idiot.

That's nuts. This is a Hyundai, not a Veyron. $3500 protection package? What is being protected for $3500 that isn't protected under warranty? 15K dealer premium? Dream on...

That dealer shouldn't even be allowed to be selling the Equus with business practice like that. Having said that, they are allowed to ask whatever they want for a car and may find a sucker.

When the Genesis first came out there were dealers marking them up. That changed pretty fast.

Go to an Auto Broker or just make an offer that is fair to the dealer without the garbage items.

hahhahaha... there is no way on earth I would pay that price for that car. dont get me wrong I drove one and love it, but I would rather have an LS460 for that price.

Sadly, there will be an idiot somewhere who will pay that price. There is one born every day.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I also ask where ...

Not every Hyundai dealer is sanctioned to sell the Equus and I suspect Hyundai would pull the Equus from this dealership if they knew. The objective is to SELL cars.

It's also a pretty dumb move because the Equus dealerships have a yearly quota to meet and I don't see this dealership meeting a quota when a purchaser can go somewhere else and pay so much less...has this dealership ever heard of the internet?

What a maroon.

Yes, makes one wonder doesn't it?

I was at my dealer yesterday for an oil change. They had an Equis listed for 58,500 (which was sticker).. usually they offer a discount but I was told this car is demanding the premium of full sticker..

Maybe you can sell at full sticker... ( not my market), but 18k over is nuts....

For 18k , I would buy where I could find it at list price and have it shipped anywhere in the US.

No one is going to pay 18k over sticker when you can buy one "off the lot" for sticker price from another dealer somewhere in the US.

All we have to do is wait about six months and after the 2012's come out then the prices will drop. It always happens.

I was thinking the same thing...I salesperson that could hardly speak english?

Does Hyundai Marketing monitor this forum? I use to have a Lincoln LS and the Brand manager was very active on the site and would personally have a bad situation turn good. Maybe the moderator could suggest to Hyundai that this forum would benefit the Brand. Not to mention, learn on this dirt bag dealer. I bet the desire also installs a vinyl rof option!

Excuse the spelling. It's the one thing I hate about the iPad. It try's to anticipate what you are spelling and automatically types the word. Cannot rush like I did!

The Hyundai dealers are just completely clueless when selling cars that fall into the Genesis/Equus demographic. They're used to selling cars that afford them to scream on cheesy TV commercials "99 dollars down, 99 dollars a month"

The Edmond Hyundai dealer in Edmond, OK was selling their Genesis' for $3,000 over sticker when I bought my Genesis in Feb 2009.

The Automax Hyundai dealership in Norman, OK had a white Genesis when I was car shopping, they wouldn't come off of sticker $1 because the white cars were so "rare." Well it was Feb when I purchased my Silver car (for $4000 below sticker), when I went back for service in July, they still had that white car, the same one. I loved it!

Hyundai dealerships are still in the idiot, low-class stage of their existence in the luxury market.

Well, I just bought my '11 Genesis and the dealer here in OC, Ca has sold about 5 or so Equus' (they are an authorized dealer) and they have asked a $5,000 mark-up and they sell each one as soon as it hits the floor. However, you can work a great deal on any other Hyundai. My Genesis was $800 UNDER INVOICE plus a $1,500 rebate.

What does that have to do w/ selling more expensive cars?

When the new Camaro was launched, Chevy dealers were selling the Camaro above sticker; same goes for the Volt nowadays.

Nissan dealers did the same early on w/ the GT-R.

It's called trying to maximize one's profits (tho it doesn't always work).
