I changed the oil myself. The under engine cover has 12 - 10 mm bolts.
It needs to be removed. The drain pan plug is hex head, 17 mm.
The engine oil filter housing cover is 27 mm and is plastic like, it has a spring clips that hold the socket on.
Oil squirts to the rear from the drain pan, 7.5 quarts or so, collection pan needs to be able to hold it all.
My steps were;
1. Remove the under engine cover, 12 bolts.
2. Remove the oil filter cover, catch a little oil here in a pan, remove the old filter from the cover.
3. Remove the old rubber band gasket seal on the housing cover, install the new gasket.
4. Re-install the new oil filter into the housing cover and tighten the housing cover back onto the filter assembly on the engine.
5. Remove the drain plug, 17 mm, hex head, tight fit here for socket and ratchet, I used a combo box/open end wrench.
6. Catch all 7.5 quarts or so of oil.
7. Remove old crush washer on the drain plug, install new crush washer on the drain plug.
8. Re-install drain plug.
9. Fill with oil at the fill fitting on top of the engine.
10. Re-install under engine cover.
11. Start engine, check for warning lights, beeps etc.
I raised the front a little with two scissor jacks to help with reaching the engine cover bolts, filter, drain etc.
Be sure to locate the lift points on each side behind the front wheels.
I got my filter at Hyundai, a little pricey.
It came with: filter, crush washer, big rubber band gasket, two o-ring type of gaskets.
I used all but the two o-rings, I could not tell where these were to be installed. Anybody know where they are used?
