  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone else got this issue? My 2016 Equus Sig. has the chrome rims. Not sure if that was optional or not. One of the the rims got corroded, rusted under the plating near the bead, causing damage to the tire, which needed to be replaced. The rim repair shop removed the corrosion and sealed the wheel so it would not happen again. The rim repair shop owner told me the remaining three rims would likely incur the same damage.

What are my options? I like the rims, but if they are going to screw up a new $1500 set of tires, I need to do something. What are some options for replacement alloy rims that look good? I am looking for something stock looking and not all hooptied up.

Is there a market for the old rims? Should I get the rim repair shop to preventatively repair the stock rims before they rust? They fixed my rusted rim for $100. I love the car, but the tire issues caused first by a defective Conti Pro Contact tire that exploded while being towed causing $15,000 damage, now the rusty chrome rims, is aggravating.

Thanks in advance.

Wow, $15K in damage?! That's insane...thank goodness for insurance!

If the wheel repair shop can do the preventive repair for $100/wheel, that's the best way to go. No need to spend more on a different set of wheels. I was going to say that getting the wheels redipped in chrome is another option.

I was shocked when the Continental tire exploded. If the car was towed on a flat bed it never wudda happened.

I agree with you. I will likely get the three other rims fixed before they go bad.

I agree with this wholeheartedly.

I had an accident where I damaged both right side wheels going through a huge water filled pothole at night (yes every bad thing happened that night). We were on a short stay where it happened and did not have the time to replace the turbine wheels (which were covered by warranty... ugh). So I put 4 new wheels on them and really regret the loss of those turbine wheels on my black 14 Equus Ultimate. Wife never has opinion about the cars we owned UNTIL I replaced those wheels. Hates them! lol

Money spent to save those turbines are worth the aggravation of getting the work done imnho.

I agree. I now have 4 new tires and will get the three remaining wheels fixed.
