  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

That's one sophisticated transmission, and seems to be a likely choice based off the Genesis already using a product from their company. Nice video explaining how the transmission works while providing better gas mileage and improved power.

I know this is a Genesis forum but since the Equus and Genesis will share showroom floorspace with each other, it might be good to chat a little about what the Equus will mean for Hyundai as they move forward in the Luxury Sedan market. I'm hoping that the Genesis will start to share some of the technology being put into it, especially in the transmission and suspension department.

So where is the "In House Hyundai 8 Speed Transmission" that so many on this group have been talking about? <grin>

OK, I know. If you read it on the Internet, it must be true.

Since Hyundai has their own 8-speed in development, why would they switch to a ZF 8-speed? Doesn't seem likely based on what we have heard in the automotive press. But I agree with ctrcbob that the rumors of exactly when a Hyundai 8-speed will be available in the Genesis are just rumors at this point.

The Korean domestic market Genesis already shares suspension components with the Equus from my understanding. But the adjustable air suspension on the Korean domestic market Genesis is not available in the North American Genesis, I assume because of cost/pricing considerations. But regarding transmissions, even in North America, the 6-speed ZF transmission is the same one used on both Genesis and Equus V8 models and even Genesis Coupe V6 models.

A lot of people have expressed a desire to get features that an Equus has on a Genesis. Why not just buy an Equus?
