In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. There is now a Hyundai Equus on display at Jenkins Hyundai of Leesburg. Stop by and take a look at this amazing veehicle.

Darn you John,

You beat me to the punch. I wanted "the glory" of telling people that you phoned me this evening to give me the news that you have the Equus on display.

Will be in tomorrow with a friend to see it. (and I was just there yesterday "visiting" but it was not in yet).

See you tomorrow.

OK, my buddy Dick and I went to Jenkins Hyundai this morning to view the Equus.

WOW. I'm impressed. Looks much better in person, than in the photos. In the past, I posted that I did not like the looks of the "creases" on the side of the car, however in person, IT LOOKS GREAT.

I knew it had the trunk lid that when down, closes by itself, however I learned that it also has doors that when closed to the safety latch, close by themselves. Neat. (My wife often "closes" the door, but not hard enough, then she has to reopen and close harder - with the Equus, as long as the door gets to the latch, it closes by itself). I watched while the back seat reclined. The rear seat headrests are power operated up/down. It had a DVD screen between the front seats, for the rear seat passengers to view. When looking in the engine compartment, it looks just like in the V8 Genesis, except everything else in the engine compartment is covered. Neat. The trunk is large. Did not have the rubber cover that my Genesis has, (probably an option) but it had an 18" x 18" box held by velcro that you can store "stuff" without it sliding around the trunk. The tires were 245/50/18 Hankook (sp). (at first, I thought they were 20" but took a second look, and they are 18")

The one thing I did not like was that only the back of the passenger seat had a wood grain table that folds out from behind the seat. The back of the driver seat has a pocket only. Looks strange seeing the wood grain on one side, and none on the other.

My wife says that I can get it for her for Christmas. :D Told her that they are not yet for sale in the US, however when I make my second million, I will think of getting one. Until then, I am thinking of getting the top of the line 2011 Senata once they are introduced. (If I got the Equus, I'd keep that for myself, and leave the Genesis for her ;) )

OK, enough for now. Did I say I was impressed and like it?

Some additional information. I managed to get some (unofficial) Features and Specs.
There are too many to list, however I will list those that are different or in addition to those on the 4.6 Tech Genesis.

Ride control and height adjustable sjuspension.
Active Suspension.
Self leveling suspension.
Power rear sunshade. (This must be the rear door sunshades this car had).
Electronic brakeforce distribution.
Emergency braking preparation (whatever that is).
Lane departure warning.
Engine immobilizer (whatever that is).
Daytime running lights (thats what it says - remember, this is unofficial).
Auto delay off headlamps.
Headlamp high pressure washers.
Pre-collision safety system (whatever that is).
Driver assisted parking assist.
Front multi-adjustable headrests (Power??)
Rear height adjustable headrests (I saw these power up and down).
Massaging driver and passenger seat.
8-way power passenger seat.
Passenger seat with power adjustable lumbar support.
Reclining rear seats.
Heated rear seats.
Split-folding rear seatback.
Power retractable mirrors. (read this as power folding mirrors).
adaptive cruise control.
Height adjustable pedals.
Four zone climate control.
Cooled storage compartment.
Memorized settings for 3 drivers.
Seperate rear audio (I think this means audio controls).
Video monitor (set in center of console for rear seat viewing)
Adjustable speed sensitive volume control.

Like I said, this is strictly unofficial and because the list is too long to post, I only posted the things that are different or in addition to what is on my V8 Tech.

Bob great job on your official evaluation of the Equus. I will try to get some additional answers on the items marked, "whatever that is". Just to let you know the pre-collision safety system works in unison with the cruise control and will adjust to the speed of the vehicle ahead of you. I also thought you took some pictures, where are they!!! As always great seeing you.

Take Care and God Bless,

I'm a "computer dummy". No Pictures.

I just saw it at the South Florida Auto show today in Miami, FL.

No pricing, yet, but the person at the display said they were hoping for an entry price below $50K.

It had picnic tables for the back seats (like on an airplane), DVD/Video for the back seat passengers, and looked like a true Lexus Killer.

Bob,

Most of the owners in Korea have a driver and that's the preferred seat. There is also a button on the front passenger seat that moves it forward very easily from the drivers seat.

From the drivers seat, lot's of great electronics, a couple of which are in the 2010 Genesis (cruise, park stop). Feature I liked the best, adjustable suspension, it really makes a difference, wish they'd offer the KDM option on the Genesis here.

Traditionally, this means that when the car detects you're going to crash, it does things like retract and lock the seat belt reel, prime the brake hydraulics, and set off audible and visual alarms to get your attention that you're about to have a very, very bad day.

My '10 has the new cruise control, played with it this weekend, when the car in front starts to rapidly slow down the Genesis will brake itself and then a series of loud "beeps" to warn you to get on the brake too!

Yes, I forgot about the buttons on the side of the front passenger seat. The person in the right rear seat can move the front passenger seat forward (or backward) to give him more rear leg room. (Don't know why, because there is already so much room back there, you can rent it out to the homeless).

Robert does senior member mean you’re as old as Moses. A couple of things I found on the Equus today. From the back seat you can lower any rear window and sun shade from either side. You can also adjust the front passenger seat from the rear control panel as well. I got to mess around with the rear entertainment center and found loaded card games music and music videos not to mention an Icon for karaoke, and yes, everything was in Korean. The sad news is it just left here a couple of minutes ago, probably going to another Central Florida dealership but not sure where.

Have a great day

John

Well not quite as old as Moses, but I did go to grade school with George Washington.

I stopped in yesterday morning after I got the Continental Oil changed just down the road from you, but the girl (with the BIG chest) told me that you don't get in until 1pm. BTW; Next time I come to visit, I will wear a T-Shirt that says something like; "Please keep your chest out of my eyes!" :D

Sorry to hear that the Equus will now go to another dealer for display. Probably Holler Hyundai. Will phone my contact at Orlando Hyundai to ask if they are the one to get it. Orlando once told me that they sell more Hyundai's than Holler. Hope it is not the "Loudmouth dealer in Longwood".

Equus returns to Jenkins Hyundai of Leesburg Fl.

It's BACK

The Equus has retured after a breif showing at The Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show.

It shoud be here thru the weekend, will keep you posted.

John,

Sure would love to have been the guy who drove it down to Fort Lauderdale and back.

I just may stop in on Saturday to take another look at it. I'll let you "buy me a coffee" from your coffee bar.

To Everyone,

In the posts above, John is a salesperson at Jenkins Hyundai, Leesburg. (Don't let that salesperson thing fool you though, as HE IS REALLY A NICE GUY).

I've been a Ford person, and I first met John at my local Ford dealership. Matter of fact, I met John twice, at this dealership. He was gone for a while, then returned a second time. HE WAS STARVING selling Fords. He switched to selling Hyundai's, and he is doing very well. All this was BEFORE the Cash For Clunkers (CFC). Before CFC, the local Ford dealer sold fewer cars in a month then the Hyundai dealer sold in a week.
Since CFC, the local Ford dealer is again selling very few cars, with very few cars on the lot. The Hyundai dealer is selling a lot of cars, and has a lot full for sale. I'm happy for John selling Hyundai's. Had he been selling back when I purchased my Genesis, I would have been tempted to buy at Jenkins. (Sorry John, but I still like the Service Department at Orlando Hyundai better and when I go to Orlando tomorrow [not for the car] I will stop off and give my Genesis Technician a bag of donuts).

Informed by John today, that the Equus left Jenkins Hyundai in Leesburg, and is now on display at Jenkins Hyundai in Ocala.

Speaking of the Equus, I met a guy in the Supermarket parking lot, driving a new Genesis and was told by him that this Genesis is one of those that a the dealer lets him have for a day, in hopes that he will buy it. Many dealers do this. The guy went on to tell me that he wants to buy an Equus, and as soon as the local dealer gets one for sale, he will snap it up. Said that after many years of owning various Mercedes, he is tired of them.

Bob your gonna make me tear up here for Gods sake. If saying that I am a nice guy means that I am a push over and will give away thousands of dollars to make a car deal then your preception is correct. My family has grown quite acustomed to Raymon Noodles and Macoroni & Cheese. If only I could have been pulled up to the Mother Ship and probed instead of you then maybe I would be able to aford the Equus when it arives in the states, but that was not my luck. I would like to wish you and everyone in the forum A Very Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Take care and God Bless!!

John

Presently in Roswell NM (visiting the Head [Space] Alien). Roswell Hyundai does not have a chance in h..l of ever getting an Equus to display. I don't know how Hyundai allows them to run a dealership where the Sales Department is in one location and the Service and Parts Departments are at Roswell Toyota, two dealerships away. If you want service, you have to sit and look at all those Toyotas sitting in the showroom, and all the Toyota signs. NO HYUNDAI SIGNS. Nothing on the outside of the building to indicate that this is where to go for Hyundai Service or Parts. The Service Manager did tell me though, that they now have two dedicated Hyundai technicians, but when I looked in the service area, all I saw were Toyotas. Must be either that Hyundai's don't need servicing, or that they are not selling many Hyundai's. When I asked them how much for an oil and filter change, they quoted me $37.50 and then had the nerve to tell me that they only make $2.50 on the deal. I had to tell him, pointing to my forhead, that it does not say stupid up here. He would not come down on the price, so I'll just wait until I get back to Mount Dora, as I will still be within the time/mileage limit for oil changes. In addition, it will cost me anywhere from $17.95 (coupon price) to $29.00 (normal price).
Note that this is at Orlando Hyundai, not Jenkins Hyundai where John works. Don't know what Jenkins price is.

Very cold here, and will return to Mount Dora in a week or so.
