  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello
I'm brand new to the forum and brand new to the Hyundai line. I just bought a 2011 Equus used. I am completely amazed at the value in these cars - I've had everything from American to German and this thing is really an impressive machine - especially for the $$$. I did find however that my radar detector alerts constantly when in this car. Out here in Nevada there are many empty roads for 500 miles where I like to go 75 or 80 and the NHP will often pull you over for that. The detector has a signal strength meter on it so I walked around the car and found the radar signal is coming from the deck behind the rear seats - where the two speakers are. Any idea what could be generating a strong radar signal there? I walked around back of the car and held it around the bumper and trunk and it was much weaker. Definitely strongest when I climb in the back seat and hold it back near the rear window. Ideas anyone?
Thanks very much in advance to everyone for any help or assistance.
Curt

Might be a bad co-ax cable or connection for your XM/Sirus antenna.

Might be helpful to know what brand/model of detector, and what band(s) it is falsing on.

It is a very strong signal in the Ka radar band - which is 33 - 36 Ghz. Up front near the windshield I get a moderately weak 2 bar reading. When I take the detector to the rear deck behind the seats it pegs on 5 bars. There is something very strong back there.

SOO What make is the detector? My valentine, which is on every time I drive, never gives me a false reading.

Sounds like a bad or cheap radar decter or broken one. Call Valentine and get a real one.

its either the blind spot monitoring or radar based cruise control..try turning them off and see what happens

Blind spot monitoring????? If only. That's an important feature Equus has missed the boat on....so far.
