  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Dear all:

During the last several weeks we have noticed that while stopped (waiting on traffic lights mostly) our 2015 Genesis 3.8 ultimate starts to give erratic audible alerts as if we were parking and getting too close to a wall or another car. Usually when this happens we are not moving nor any other car around us is moving or too close to us (I always keep a very healthy distance from other cars).

Any others experiencing this? How did you fix it?

Thanks!

I have a 2016 Genesis and have the same problem. It has happened 6 times in 12000 miles so I am not too worried about it. I took a video of it with my cell phone. Dealer said it could be dirty sensors but I am not buying that. How often does your car do this?

Happens to me at a stop light (MY2015 Genesis) about once a month or two (so about 10-15 times over last 18000 miles); but is not a significant problem and goes away in a few seconds. If driving thru raining, or when snowing, the sensors do act up more...and that is expected. I have never cleaned by sensors specifically; assume that they get cleaned when car is washed. BTW, no harm in cleaning the sensors with a wet cloth...and see if that fixes it.

I see this every month or two on average. Does it happen when you're stopped in traffic? I've heard that the sensor systems of certain other vehicles can create interference that messes your car's sensors.

I have noticed this as well. I've observed this happens when I'm stopped at a traffic signal behind any type of Ford/Lincoln SUV and some BMW's. Not sure if it's coincidence, or their rear parking sensors are causing the issue.

Thanks for the quick reply. I bet it is interference from other cars sensors. I will try to note what cars are around me to see if it is a certain type of automobile.

Exactly what I have observed with mine. Lincoln and Ford products cause my parking sensors to sometimes beep when I'm stopped near one of them.

I've noticed that BMW X5s with sensors in the rear bumpers set off my parking assist warnings.

This happens to me as well on occasion depending on what type of car is in front of you. Some cars seem to set off our parking sensors. If it is annoying, you can shut off the parking sensor with the button that's near the scroll wheel to stop this from happening at traffic lights.

I was driving on a 2-lane highway in rural Texas at about 2am when my side-collision alert went off. Scared the bejeebies out of me. It's happened maybe twice in my two years with the car.

I occasionally get the front alert while stopped at a light but never noticed what type of car was in front of me...will have to pay closer attention next time!
