  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I posted this on the coupe forum by mistake.Reposting here. My 2010 would not start over the weekend, I got the "key not recognized" icon on the dash. I checked the fob battery and it read 2.8-3.0 volts on my analog volt meter. I did what the manual suggested, locking and unlocking the door with the key, then replaced it in the fob and the car started. Worked a couple of times then quit again and will not work. Incidentally this was right after I had been in for the brake light recall. A technician said there was a slim chance that could be the problem, however my spare fob worked OK this morning, but thats only once. Hardly confidence inspiring.
THis is a 2010 model and the same fob has been used all the time, could the electronics be shot?
Thanks
Stu

What did your dealer say?

please reread my post. The technician works for Hyundai!

I'm having similar issues after having the brake light recall fix implemented. In my case, the fob just doesn't work. I cannot unlock the doors either by pushing the button on the door handle or using the keys on the fob. After inserting the fob into the slot and starting the car, it seems to work again for a while. I thought it may be a battery issue, but now I'm wondering maybe it isn't. I have not replaced the battery yet. I'll do that soon and see if I still have issues.

Well, count me on this list. Got the brake light recall done (approx. 2 weeks ago) and the key fob had been erratic ever since (it's done the same thing in the past but it was a much much rarer occurrence, and a quick lock/unlock did the trick).

I replaced the battery about 3 days ago and it's been perfectly fine since *knock on wood*.

I have two fobs, call them A and B. When A doesn't work B does and vice versa. If the fob won't let you unlock the door , it will start the car. If the fob unlocks the door , chances are it won't start the car! I can always start the car after finally finding the elusive slot to the left of the ashtray.I never had a problem before the recall. I have new batteries in the fobs even though the originals read 3 volts.
How long before Hyundai does something about this and recalls the recalls? I have lost all confidence in this car .

i had the same issues w/ both of my fob's for quite some time- 2009 genny.
took the car in for a bad electric steering wheel tilt switch and told them about the fob. they replaced both fob's under warranty. problem fixed. have had no issues since.

My wife's fob began working erratically. I gave her mine and took hers. Since then I have had no problems but now her's usually doesn't work (that was mine that worked until I gave it to her). Have not had a chance to take it to the dealer yet, but it sure is puzzling. I thought it might be that she keeps it in her purse with her cell phone. I draped mine over my cell for a while and it didn't affect it. It is a puzzlement.

Note: I have not had the brake recall switch done yet but I needed to have it replaced last spring. Don't know if they will change it again or not.

Out side of the droopy steering wheel these are the only two problems I have had on my 2011.
