Please excuse my inability to find an applicable category for this post as I think it applies to all engines.
I’m not trying to “kick a dead dog” here but here’s some very interesting reading on the use of ethanol as a gas supplement.

Farmers growing corn for Ethanol likely love it. Promotes price increase in feed for stock and of course those costs passed on to us as consumers. Killing the boating industry also another nice little side issue.
