  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi Everyone,

I am still looking for a dealership that can service my 2023 genesis G80 electrified. All the local dealers sell the EVs. They sell the GV60 and the electrified 70s and 80s, but when I speak to their service departments, they don't service them. Dealership A (5 minutes away) refers you to Dealership B (25 minutes away). Dealership B refers you to Dealership C (one hour away). Dealership C is unreachable by phone and also much further away. Has anyone else had this experience?

Are any of these stand alone Genesis dealerships? Do they have ev certified technicians?

Most of these dealerships are shared Hyundai and Genesis and they sell EVs in both brands but can't service them for either brand - if the issue requires an EV certified Tech.
I spoke with the service manager of the closest Dealership which I called "A" in my post. He said they had a "certified EV technician" last year who "retired." I suspect the person quit. The service manager told me they have been looking for a replacement for more than 6 months already. They can't find or train qualified people apparently. It could be a problem of pay or expertise or willingness or a combination. He did tell me the training program takes 8 months. He said they can do the recall work that needs to be done for my 2023 G80, but they can't do any work that involves the high powered system. He also said there is another dealership further south that can service the vehicle (I'll call that one "D"). I didn't successfully reach anyone there (D) to confirm, but that location is also 50-90 minutes away due to traffic. I was surprised to learn that at least 4 different dealerships within 40 miles from me sell and lease these vehicles but can't fully service them. It all sounds like training and personnel issues.

You are definitely getting the run around. Phoenix is the 10th largest metro area and we have three Genesis standalone dealerships with service in the metro area. The Miami metro area is the 9th largest metro area so it surprises me that you haven't found any standalone Genesis dealerships with certified techs in South Florida.

I am not from the area but I am confident that there are many here who are. Why don't you post your location and perhaps someone can then help you with finding a Genesis dealership in the area that can service your needs.

My G80 is ready for the 15k mile scheduled service. Question: what do they do at this interval? I go on my local Genesis delaer website to schedule it and the tasks they list as being done include oil change, filter change, etc. Obviously its a blanket service menu and not tailored to EV's.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

I'm surprised the Owner's Manual did not list what should be done.
