  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi everyone,

I am hoping to find a 2015 AWD CPO Ultimate this week and I have gotten rather good at identifying features from photos (since dealerships don't always list everything or the correct trim). Can someone tell me how I can best spot a car that has the HUD? Is there a giveaway somewhere in the photos? Lake Keep and BSM are easy since they have their own button but I don't know how to identify the HUD since they rarely take a photo of it.

Thanks!

The HUD only comes in the Ultimate. If you can't see the square on the dash from a front picture, the other giveaway is the control wheel for the DIS. Only the Ultimate has this controller. BTW - the AWD Ultimate has ALL the options, including the heated rear sets, steering wheel and headlight washers.

ALL Ultimates have the DIS knob in the center console. Otherwise, look for the cutout notch on the dash in front of the steering wheel. And agree, this isn't always visible in dealer photos.

Another cool trick someone did, but I'm not sure if it would work because Hyundai is now Genesis. Pull up a website showing the pdf page of the window sticker of any new Hyundai. In the address bar for the webpage, you should see the VIN number of that particular car you pulled up. Delete the VIN number and replace it with the Genesis you're looking at....and hopefully it'll display the window sticker of your car.

And HUD is awesome!

Oh okay. Thanks! So, this car has a DIS knob so that means it must be an Ultimate and therefore must have a HUD?

One more question: If the Ultimate is supposed to have every option, then how come I've noticed some Ultimates have heated steering wheel and some don't?

It also seems to go along with AWD and RWD but not every time.

In Canada my 3.8 H trac with HUD dont come with those knob in center console.

In the US there is a "cold weather package" which adds headlight washers, heated steering and heated rears. This is separate from "ultimate".

The cold weather package is included in AWD models in the US and is independent of the trim level.

We should have asked to clarify where the OP was asking about. I assumed the US. For Canada, IIRC, there is no 3.8 Ultimate. And the HUD is available on the 3.8 with Technology. In Canada, only the 5.0 comes with the 9.2" entertainment system and it is this one that has the DIS round controller (5.0 is only available in Ultimate).

The US is different in that the HUD is ONLY available in the Ultimate, both in the 3.8 and 5.0.

You were right to assume US. I should have stated that.

Meanwhile, I decided against an Ultimate and I think I will just go for one with a tech package.

Heres why: I simply cannot find an Ultimate 3.8 HTrac with a black interior. There are two within 200 miles of my house and it's been in an accident. It's still a CPO which I thought was interesting (Lexus would never do that). Then there is an Ibiza with black interior an only 500 miles! But they want too much for it because they are in WAY TOO DEEP on the car. So, there is a white Tech that I've come to realize has everything I want (minus that sweet looking HUD and very convenient DIS knob).

So, with fingers crossed I'll have a Casablanca White (the fastest color :) ) in my driveway on Monday night.

For what it is worth, I find the DIS knob is FANTASTIC as are the redundant buttons surrounding it. I had a loaner the last two weeks (a 2017 G80 Premium) and I constantly found myself reaching for the knob only to find it wasn't there. Of course I only did this because I was so used to it being there. Same for the HUD. It is a great feature and missed when not there. So, if it were me, I would hold out for the Ultimate.

I ended up with a Persian Grey tech package. I don't miss the DIS knob but I have noticed it's usefulness when driving and I just want to change one setting.

Sorry if I'm late to this conversation...
I bought the 3.8 V6 Technology ( trim-line below "Ultimate") here in Canada and I have HUD!

In fact, I have all the features described in the "Cold Weather Pkg" too. I think that stuff just comes standard in Canada! LOL

The "Technology" trim (in Canada) has pretty much everything you could want! The only thing missing was the DIS knob... but to get that here... you need to buy the 5.0 V8
