  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

As deep as my hatred is for the electric nannies on this car I'll have to say I'm glad I had them the past couple of days and maybe even the next few days. Where I live it is rare to get any snow or ice and even rarer for it to stick around for more than a day. We started getting misting rain and freezing fog Saturday night and then by Sunday evening heavy sleet and a little more yesterday morning and afternoon. It has been 5°-21°F since Sunday morning and we now have about 2.5" of mostly frozen sleet/snow built up with more on the way tomorrow evening. My wife and I got out this morning, a little nervous due to the hills, a narrow bridge and a banked turn at the bottom of a hill between us and town. I put it in economy mode, auto and made sure esc was on and we were off. I have driving skills but I've been on ice before and if it gets away from you you're just along for the ride. Anyway, not once did it ever try to get away from me. Turning at intersections wasn't a problem and neither was stopping or accelerating, I just took it easy. I realize this post is meaningless to most people here but if I can drive this car on snow and ice so can somebody browsing the forum that is trying to decide if they want to buy one of these or not.

What tires do you have?
And what is your year and model?

2014 R-Spec sedan with National Commando HTS 235/45-19. They were on the car when I got it back in October and look new so I didn't bother changing them.

We had about 6" of snow overnight here and I had to drive. Drives no problem.

I have snow tires - Blizzak WS80 and four sand bags (40lb each) in the trunk for weight.

How about Genesis 2.0T (with winter tires) pulling other Genesis 3.8 (with summer tires) from snow? :D

Ever seen the Garage 54 channel on youtube? You should see how much weight they added to a Lada to increase traction. Those cars may not be able to run highway speeds or accelerate very well but they have torque for days and are built very well despite the low quality of steel used for body and frames.

Pretty impressive, I'd have some of them if I thought I'd get more than a couple days use out of them every few years.

Are you talking about Soviet Lada?

Yep

It's rare my wife cares about a car but she has specifically asked for one if them. If we had room for it we'd already have one. What kind of luck did you have with yours?

2.5 metric tons

My main luck was that my dad could fix anything if something got broken.

Are you saying your wife wants to buy Lada here in America?
