  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

guys,

i have spent close to $2M and 3 months trying to get a better exhaust note for my 11 V6 sedan. trying several mufflers and fabricating pipes almost drove me crazy. i finally hit the mother lode so any who wants to go to school on what i have done feel free to do so.

unfortunately no one makes a cat back or exhaust back system for the V6 sedan but there are several for the coupe.

what finally did the job was putting a pair of car chemistry 2" 4 disc inserts immediately behind the 2 in/out factory resonator and LIGHTLY packing 2 0f the 3 journals with super wool 607 ceramic material. ken mullinex owner of car chemistry in dallas worked very closely with me on this. he is a super guy.

next, we removed the 2 factory mufflers behind the rear wheels and replaced them with a pair of vibrant performance 14" super quiet stainless resonators. we stuck a pair of european porsche turbo type quad tips in the bumper for a great look. they came from korean auto imports. all these suppliers can be found on the net.

AT LONG LAST I HAVE A SUPER FREE FLOWING SYSTEM WITH AN EXHAUST NOTE CLOSE TO A V8 AND NO NO NO DRONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

with a k&n filter kit on the front end and this exhaust on the back side my black genny screams and because it is totally badged and black grilled out out very few know what im driving. estimated 0-60 is 5.7 seconds and 1/4 mile is 102mph. genny eats 5 ltr mustangs for lunch.

good luck and rock on.

Thanks for the insightful post. I've been pondering (well, dreaming really, given my finances) about doing something to get a little more "oomph" out of my 09v6. Thanks again.

Hey Bud...do you have any pics or sound clips?

By the way, spending close to $2M sounds like a bit of an exaggeration...maybe you meant $2K

Consider replacing just the rear mufflers, which appear to be the biggest back pressure block, with Dynamax VT mufflers. These muffers are fairly new technology released just last year. At low flow, where drone often occurs, an internal flap partially closes, which slows exhaust gas and attenuates sound. At fuller throttle the flap opens completely. Google Dynamax as there is plenty of comments on these mufflers on other sites, particularly the LS1 sites.
My modified MagnaFlow V8 exhaust presently still drones despite the substitution of a MagnaFlow X muffler in place of the simple MagnaFlow X pipe. I intend to install the Dynamax VT mufflers in place of the MagnaFlow rear mufflers.
