  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Exhaust Tips

Scott,

Those look nice! Could you do me a huge favor and take one shot from the center of the back of the car at bumper level? I just want to see how it looks from the back with the quad tips on both sides and if they are angled down slightly like they appear.

As someone who is looking at getting difference exhaust tips that would be hugely helpful. Thanks!

Ok, I'll stop being lazy using my cell phone for pics,

NICE! I can't seem to find these at www.msauthority.com though.

Thanks Scott....your Gen looks great! :)

I've never been on his website until just now, and it's pretty nice. I sent a message over youtube to MSA, (forgot his name, maybe Matt??) and he'll be chiming in here today I would think.

I apologize. Not only am I the owner, but I am the fabricator, R&D, and webmaster (thanks Scott for the compliment). This time of year (show season) puts me terribly behind. If you pm me a zip code, I can quote it with shipping.

The tech also mentioned that he really want to take off the factory resenator which he thinks if removed would give the car an even better tone compared to my setup, but I know removing that would also make the exhaust louder.

Anyone want to buy my MagnaFlow set, possibly for another car you have?

Thanks Scott for sending me a quick message. The tips look great! Removing the factory resonators makes it loud with a pretty bad drone on the freeway in the 75 range. It sounds SOOOO mean though. If you're curious about the exhaust sound, it's on my youtube, but I'll link it for quick reference. It's the resonators cutoff with our cat deletes. I'm sure you've seen it.

I now have resonators on it, and I need to do another quick video of it. The drone's completely gone. I haven't posted anything because I haven't had the time to put it on rollers to see if there's a positive improvement on it. Luckily I have the dyno sheets from the stock exhaust and cat deletes so the exhaust will be the only variable (except temp/humidity of course). Hopefully I can get that done soon so I can move onto the x-pipe.

Stiil waiting for your reply to my PM on the tips.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Sorry. I had been out of the country. Thanks for emailing me.

No problem. The tips should be here this week, and I can't wait to have them installed. Should look great with the Pearl White.

Not sure if understand installation correctly regarding those tips. Do they easily install in place of the OEM tips without modifying OEM muffler? How much has to be cut from the after market tips to make them fit without protruding too far from bumper?

I think they have to be trimmed closer to the V (where the two tips connect). I've hacked and welded my exhaust so often to attempt to get the right tone, I couldn't help here anymore. My apologies there.

Are you saying that the tips affect the tone/resonance of the OEM factory exhaust? I have no intention of changing anything other than the two tips.

No, they don't. Tips don't affect anything. I had once been playing with mufflers to get the deep throaty tone when necessary, but not have that obnoxious drone during cruising speeds. (I've just been pulled off the project due to other responsibilities.)

I thought not and thanks.

I seem to be having trouble responding to pms...did the tips come in?

 Does anyone know what the measurements are on the MSA tips?
Are the tips 3.0 inches or 3.5? (its absent from their web site)

I would love to hear what the V6 sounds like with an exhaust system etc. I think it would sound good:)

Unfortunately, my video kind of sucks as it is very short but I have had the full Magnaflow cat-back system installed on my V6 for over a year or so. The kit is made for the 4.6 but it fits for the most part. I think my installer only had to make a modifications to one of the pipes.

There has definitely been drone but it has gotten substantially better over time. It's particularly better when you manually shift as the Genesis tends to shift into the highest gear quickly even at low speeds which will enhance the drone.

The video is on this page:

I HAVE TIPS! I found some Silverline's that are exactly the same. I was able to get my hands on only 5 sets! They're the same that we get, except Silverline is stamped/etched on them rather than being blank. I don't see them lasting long seeing that's the only 5 sets I could get from anywhere in the US.
