According to official Hyundai specs:Thank You for all the feedback regarding my post.
Some other questions:
- Does this GDI engine have to run on premium fuel?
- Are there any loop holes in the 10/100k Powertrain Warranty?
- 3.8 GDI specifies regular fuel,
- 5.0 GDI specifies either regular or premium (a little more HP with premium, and probably slightly better MPG).
The only loop hole in the 10 year/100k mile Powertrain Warranty is that it is not transferable to subsequent owners, unless the car is sold by an authorized Hyundai dealer as a CPO model (certified pre-owned). Also, not everything you may think is part of the drivetrain, is actually considered to be the drivetrain by Hyundai (or any other manufacturer). This is not unique to Hyundai.
With any warranty issues, you cannot expect an engine to perform quite as good at 100K miles as it does at 10K miles. For example, if an engine makes some (relatively minor) strange sounds at 100K miles, or uses more oil than before, or has slightly worse MPG, the dealer may say that is "normal" for an engine with 100K miles. Also, dealers are under instructions from HMA to not replace any parts unless they can duplicate the problem. But if your engine has a complete failure, and you have complied with the required maintenance items (and have documentation), Hyundai will fix or replace the engine if it is under warranty.
