  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've never felt they were worth purchasing as they normally expire at 100K miles...I suspect every car will hit that milestone without serious problems (except an Alfa or Fiat, which may not make it to 30K).

So, I bought a used G70 with only 40 miles, but titled July 2019 and auctioned Jan 2020. So there is a story there...not sure what, but sitting for 6 months not being driven is not good for a car (dealer pre-sale service included full brake job and oil/filter change). And, buying Genesis used means you only get the remainder of the 5 year bumper-to-bumper warranty. 10 years of piece of mind was important to me, to the extent I felt the ESC was imortant to fill in the powertrain for years 6 to 10 gap (not offerred on a used car).

Dealer priced it at $2,200...I thought it fair we split the cost, so coverage for years 6 through 10 cost me $1,100..

Doing the math, I'm guessing I won't need it, which means I'm paying $1,200 for peace. On the other hand, one or two serious maintenance problems and I've covered myself, including deductible.

Any thoughts on Genesis ESC?

Well worth it for the peace-of-mind alone.

One even-not-so-serious repair and it will pay for itself.

Surprised the dealer split the cost with you tho. That makes it a great deal, imo.

Great deal for 1100. I was quoted 3000 at time of purchase and now its 2200. Still undecided.

I paid $1,295 for my 10/100,000 warranty on my ‘12 Genesis back in ‘14. Mine may be the most “cherry” ‘12 around.

The warranty runs till 2024 and I have only 45,000 on the odo. You can do the math.

Any need to have used it?
I’ve cashed in on my extended warranty twice, so it’s almost paid for itself. One repair was a new motor for the sunshade. The original motor still worked, but was noisy. The other repair was an exhaust emissions sensor part. Total for both was circa $900 vs. the $1,295 I paid for the warranty which runs till 2024. The warranty is transferable for $50, so one of these days my Son will own this car with decent warranty coverage left.
