I've never felt they were worth purchasing as they normally expire at 100K miles...I suspect every car will hit that milestone without serious problems (except an Alfa or Fiat, which may not make it to 30K).
So, I bought a used G70 with only 40 miles, but titled July 2019 and auctioned Jan 2020. So there is a story there...not sure what, but sitting for 6 months not being driven is not good for a car (dealer pre-sale service included full brake job and oil/filter change). And, buying Genesis used means you only get the remainder of the 5 year bumper-to-bumper warranty. 10 years of piece of mind was important to me, to the extent I felt the ESC was imortant to fill in the powertrain for years 6 to 10 gap (not offerred on a used car).
Dealer priced it at $2,200...I thought it fair we split the cost, so coverage for years 6 through 10 cost me $1,100..
Doing the math, I'm guessing I won't need it, which means I'm paying $1,200 for peace. On the other hand, one or two serious maintenance problems and I've covered myself, including deductible.
Any thoughts on Genesis ESC?
