  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Extended Warranty

I built in an extended warranty as part of my purchase as well. I was offered and purchased Zurich HelpPoint Automotive Comprehensive coverage which extends the manufactures warranties that expire normally at 3/36k for nav/electronics, and 5/60k bumper to bumper to a full 10yr/100k like the power train. There is a $100 deductible, but coverage work can be done at any ASE certified dealer and doesn't need pre-approval if they carry ASE certification.

The coverage I got did have riders for wheel/rims and window/glass, but I didn't take those. Was originally offered the comprehensive coverage for $1299 ended up in the negotiation getting in the my purchase for $540.00. Out the door total for my 2012 Geny R-Spec sedan I was at $39,991 with all fees, taxes, title, and options.

Hope this helps... you can definitely get the price down off the initial price quoted.

WOW! Nice job on getting quite a deal. Getting an R-Spec for better than 20% off of MSRP. I guess I'm not that good at negociating.

Marty, I'll check my paper work and see who the warrenty is thru. I was sure that it was a Hyundai one.

As for the deal I got, I'm sure he's not going to tell you about mine as they would loose money. Bottom line, the bank interest was a point higher than expected, so to keep my payments the same, they discounted the warrenty and a couple of other things.

The car guard I never paid for. I'll post up tomorrow what everything was.

Been lurking for a few weeks, but I just bought, 2/28/12, a 2012 Genesis V-6 w/ tech & premium and also opted for the extended warranty. Got mine for $999, which I thought was reasonable considering what one repair on the radio could potentially cost.

If you got the Platinum warranty that covers electronics, that is a pretty good deal.

OK, pulled the paperwork last night. Sorry I'm a day late.

Hyundai Fidelity Platnum warrenty. Paid $1077 for it. 10/100 bumper to bumper coverage with a $50. deductable. They said if I have them do the work, then they would waive the deductable.

Hope that helps you some. Steve was the finance guy I worked with.

Hey Crusty, thanks for the info. The finance guy I worked with was Andy and he said he was the one who wrote up your contract. Don't know whats going on over there. He did not offer the Hyundai Fidelity Platinum warranty.

He's a salesman. The one he's offering has the most profit in it for him.

Marty, unless they got another R Spec in there after mine, then I have no idea who Andy is. I bought the car from John and I'm almost positive Steve did the paperwork.
And my Contract and warrenty paperwork say Hyundai Fidelity on them.
John is a heavy set older Hispanic man with glasses. He usually sits in the front on the right hand side as you face the building.
I bought the car back in October. I'm out of town for the month so I can't go back and check my paperwork until April.

So not sure what is going on there or why he will not sell you the Hyundai Fidelity warrenty.

Thanks Crusty for the info.

May be when you get back, we can talk about this in more detail. There is 4 of us who are interested in getting the warranty. You would think this guy would give us the right info.

Marty

OK, I'll contact you when I get back in town. If you want to, try and find John and talk to him and see what he says.

As for the warrenty and price, that is directly off my paperwork. As for the name Steve, I'll double check that when I get back.

Marty,
Sent you a Pm with all the info I have. ;)

Which level of coverage level/mileage are you looking at?

I have been reading this forum for 2 years and noticed multiple messages about extended warranties. People were constantly saying that third party warranties such as Hyundai Fidelity Platinum DO NOT cover electronics.

I even asked my dealer about it last year and he initially told me electronics were covered, but after checking with Hyundai he said in fact the electronics ARE NOT covered.

So I am wondering why now all of a sudden people are talking in this thread about electronics being covered. Has the warranty coverage of the Hyundai Platinum changed, or is it that people are just assuming the electronics are now covered?

I asked my dealer again about this yesterday and he said he still couldn't sell me a warranty that covered electronics. According to him the fine print on the Platinum policy excludes "near object avoidance systems and all laser radar cruise control components as well as the proximity park assist system. This would involve some very expensive stuff. Just something to think about. So for all these people that are saying or assuming the electronics are covered - can you verify that by reading the fine print of your policy.

By electronics I mean the radar, and all radio, DVD&CD and NAV functions and all electronics/speakers/amps of the music system as well as the proximity park assist system and near object avoidance systems and all laser radar cruise control components. If the platinum doesn't cover these items then it's not worth the money in my opinion.

I'm kind of wondering the same thing and am considering it, but the reviews online are terrible for the Fedelity warranty. Seems they don't want to pay up when it's time for a repair or they find a clause in the system to not have to pay for it.
