  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just a warning... the scissor jack comes with a hook, the opposite end of the hook is a sharp edge to remote the center cap... When raising the car the sharp edge runs very close to the paint on the car, a slip will result in a very deep scratch....

I hope thats your assumption and not from experience.

I had to change a tire today, I noticed the problem before I scratched my car and wrapped the tip of the bar in a cloth... If I hadn't I would have a nasty scratch .....

I tried the scissor jack, just for laughs and the jack is fine, but the corresponding pieces used to turn the jack are very clumsy. This thing should be used for emergency situations only. DO yourself a favor and get a proper floor jack and some jack stands, it makes doing anything under the car, easier and more importantly safer.

Thanks, I do have, but I don't keep the floor jack in the car for road side service.

After yesterday's fun, I did add a "bent arm" to the kit so the scissor jack is easier to use....

So thats what that thing is a car jack, here I thought it was a Canoe anchor. I know it would be better for that than lifting up a corner of my car.

Thanks for the info. I will be sure to alert my chauffeur of this potential problem.

OT, but is there a best jack point for getting the entire side of the car off the ground? Is the normal jack point behind the front wheel best for this?

you would need to catch both points on each side to lift the car.
