  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hmmm, I think I would rather be in the gray camp according to this. :D

That link is interesting in that it quotes 3 different studies, plus crash data statistics in NZ. Sometimes the studies have wildly different opinions on the relationship of car color and personality. I think the American study conducted by CNW Marketing is the most accurate (at least in the USA), even though it often contradicted the UK study.

But there are other factors beside personality that have a factor, such as geographic location in the US (would not affect the choice of car color in the UK where there is very little snow and very little intense sun). If one lives in Arizona or Florida, you don't see as many dark color cars due to the heat and intense sun. This is the same reason why people in Miami don't wear dark color suits. Dark color suits in Houston are much more prevalent, partially because of the extensive under-ground air conditioned tunnel system in downtown Houston.

You know, if you look at it logically, we may not be too far off in left feild but it may be those who stare at the color black that are.

When is the last time you saw a black ship or airplane in the military? 95% of them are gray. :)

Yeah, but the secret, high performance stuff is black...:D

Maybe I am wrong, but it sounds like he "borrowed" you car for a joy ride, and not because he needed to go somewhere. If so, that is especially bad.

Regarding the insurance, if someone borrows your car, would an accident normally be covered under the car owner's insurance, or the driver's insurance? I am a bit ignorant about that. Also, wondering if the fact that you did not give permission would affect the coverage (if insurance company knew about it)?

Drivers insurance should be first in line then your insurance

Hmmm, as mentioned he has a suspended drivers licence for almost a year now and no insurance so that would have been impossible.

You're lucky he wasn't hurt, insurance companies destroy lives, there's no money in being ethical, or moral these days.

My last hyundai left me with scars, surgeries, and 2 years chipped off my life on top of an unfinished college degree. On top of which designs of mine as an artist and 3D modeler have been taken and used in the current 2012 R-Spec..

How ironic.. I can't even make it to and from school, doctor appointments, grocery stores to eat and stay healthy, work a job..

Some times I wonder why I still want an R-Spec to this day..

3 Words, and this should solve your problem, "Institutionalized Bad Faith"..

That should scare the insurance company into complacency, either that or they'll do the complete opposite.

I'm lucky?? WTF, he was stone drunk, stole my car and crashed. I would say he was lucky I did not do damage to him. Regardless, I wish harm to no one.

If you would have taken the time to read the thread you would know the insurance finally gave me a new car costing me only the deductible. Did take much longer than I expected but did learn a little from the experience. All stuff I had put on such as tint, front end mask, badges etc were also paid for by them.

They have no choice but to throughly investigate all claims as there is so much fraud going on now a days and unfortunately it is the bulk of the insured who have created this mess and continue to do so. This translates into frustration for all those law abiding people and puts fear/worry into those who cheat in a vain attempt to prevent cheating.

As for personal injury, I am in Canada. All personal injuries are taken care of by the government and any and all medical procedures are paid by them. There is no bickering on who, if and how someone will pay the bill simply because regardless of who is at fault, if the person requires medical attention no one else but the government pays. The system may have it's faults but when you need help there is no question of how and if and what and when money will be paid nor are there any monetary worries.

Hmmm, seems as though your son-in-law actually did you a favor here...

Things happen for a reason but i hope they turn out for the better

Interestingly - the insurance on our new Genny, at least here in Ontario (Canada) includes 5 yrs of total replacement value as a no charge item (same length of time as the warranty ?)

More interestingly - had a no fault road hazard accident in Kentucky - ended up with $8000 damage (wire harness, front bumper etc on our Lexus) - when we went to trade, any dealer we visited (Lexus, Infinity and Hyundai), after checking on the computer, deducted $500 for every $1000 worth of Insurance payment from the value of the trade-in. Maybe gettting your car written off was best in the long run!!!

What are your semi-annual auto insurance payments?

I am also in Canada and you do not want to compare pricing here to the states. We do pay through the nose for everything else including taxation however insurance is cheap. We go by annual payments here and mine are $520 for the year full insurance all around. 2 million liability and $1000 deductible. Replacement value.
