  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Factory performance parts

I HIGHLY, HIGHLY doubt this is true. Most of the information coming out from dealers are very suspect. In fact, I bet we know more about the Genesis Coupe then some of the supposed "trained" dealer salesman.

Sigh....that's very sad.

it IS expected, but no one will ever likely see 30mpg because EVERYONE will be boosting the car. on the highway during a roadtrip you will probably see 30mpg, but not likely because people don't usually travel at 55mph on a roadtrip. mpg in a boosted car is REAL different than an N/A car.

i've had an 04 SRT for 3 years, and i've been currently driving a 20G'd STi for 2 years. i'm pretty sure i know how a boosted car drives.

so, from the time this car was released there has been only ONE FREAKIN VIDEO of a dyno session from a big turbo'd i4 Genesis Coupe !?!?!

but c'mon, 302ftlbs !?!? my freakin baby stock turbo made that much in my shitbox SRT with a wastegate and 3" dumped exhaust @ 18psi.

that's terrible.

carlos nice

Ok I don't ever ever EVER make claims I can't keep so I will say this is speculation. I'm willing to bet, based on being a part of the 240sx community for the past 5 years and change, that if you get this car retuned from the factory specs with ANY turbo, you will get better than 30mpg highway. If these guys can take 17 year old 2.0Ts and get 32-34 on the highway, then this brand new engine can achieve 30.
My second bet is that if I brought this car to Dent Sport Garage when opensource cracks this ECU, I could get 302 ft/lbs on a T2 turbo with a turboback exhaust. I honestly don't see the stock turbo making much over 300bhp, but a 30r, 400 ft/lbs is in the realm of possibility I'm sure

Oh and to be devils advocate a little bit more, those numbers could be at 6-10 PSI for all we know

Well.. I don't think it was a GT30R, the pictures of that car clearly show a stock turbo, on a stock exhaust manifold... Not a GT30R..

I will reserve judgement until i can get a real equal length manifold, a real intercooler (not some POS ebay core), and a real turbo on it and see what the stock internals will hold. I have no doubt that i4 will make as much power as I want it to make.. it is just a question of how much I will have to build to get it there.

As long as the tranny and the rear end holds.. I don't mind building the short block and head. I am just spoiled.. I am used pushing over 800rwhp on the stock block, and over 1000rwhp though my stock tranny, stock drive shaft, stock rear end, and stock axles :)

The real question is just what the stock internals, and the stock drive train will hold, and for how long...
