Fatal Application Error BKAVoiceHandler.exe

Hey Guys,

I have a 3.8 GT Automatic and I am getting this error message in my navigation system.

Fatal Application Error 

BKAVoiceHandler.exe has performed an illegal operation.

I think after I paired my phone with the car (I have a Samsung Instinct), I started getting this error message, can someone please direct me to proper direction?

BTW everything works fine even after getting the error message, the error message goes away when you click on OK, but comes back when you restart your engine.

Take it to the dealer. It looks like a software error and frankly you, as the driver, should never see a message like that. It's either a really serious problem with that subroutine or the developers were lazy not to mask the error with a more user-friendly message.

Show it to the dealer and get a replacement system. Or, if you want to know if it really was your Samsung, ask if you can pair it to a similar new car on the lot - see if the error follows. If so, Hyundai would probably like to know about the incompatibility to keep their web site "known compatible" phones up to date. Don't forget to "unpair" the phone on their new car when done so some future buyer isn't confused.

Did you try unpairing with your car to see if the error code goes away?

I'd even add that before you take it to the dealer try unpairing and then deleting it. Then pair it up again and see what happens. If that doesn't work then it's dealer time.

Ok, I upaired it and tested it, no errors were shown.

I then paired it again and this time no errors are popping up, I am going to test it for couple of days and then see if it really fixed it or not

I just started getting this message after my wife paired her Blackberry. Going to try unpairing to see if it goes away before going to the dealer. Any other suggestions are appreciated!

I've been getting this same error whenever a Bluetooth device is activated in the car. It happened with my Blackberry. When I got a Galaxy S6 Edge and turned on the Bluetooth, it happened again. I tried unpairing/re-pairing. I tried resetting the Bluetooth in the car, then re-pairing the phone - same problem.

Very interesting. I'm glad you found us while searching for that error message. Are you planning on taking your Genesis to the dealer? I'd love to get an explanation for this apparently rare problem...

I will go to the dealer because I've got several nagging issues. The Bluetooth problem prevents my using the phone while driving. I also can't use the handbrake because it doesn't engage even when the handle is pulled all the way up. Also, the driver's side door lock doesn't activate with the keyless entry fob (yes, fresh battery) or the door pushbutton - I have to use the manual key to get in. The passenger's side door button works fine for that door, but it doesn't activate the driver's side, either open or close.
