- 1G Genesis Sedan (2009-2014)
Hyundai offers an adjustable air suspension option on the Genesis sedan sold in all markets except the USA and Canada. A conscious decision was made not offer it in North America, partly to keep the price down (the Genesis in the US is much less expensive than in other countries), and partly because Hyundai Motor America decided they wanted to have a much firmer suspension than is available in the KDM version. In 2009, John Krafcik (CEO of Hyundai Motor America) was quoted as saying that they did not want a Lexus type ride for the Genesis sedan. It'll be interesting to see what Hyundai does for '14, but that's more than a year off. I hope they offer some type of adjustable ride.
If and when they ever start selling the Genesis sedan in Western Europe, I would think they would want a similarly firm ride as in the US model.
Based on the above, and that the Equus has an adjustable air suspension (an Equus in the US is about the price of a loaded Genesis in Korea), I would not expect to see an adjustable air suspension on the Genesis anytime soon (maybe never), but definitely not before the next major makeover (2014 or 2015 model year).
