  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

This is a semi-common issue as ive seen several forum posts of mostly higher milage G70s & Stingers (sometimes low milage too) having the same problems, and it seems that no one has posted the fix.

For the last year or so i have been struggling to find answers on what has been going on with my 22 G70 3.3 AWD Sport Prestige with 95k miles. The car would run perfectly 90% of the time (other than a weird high idle around 1000 rpm), and then randomly go into limp mode and throw a bunch of CEL (most often p0302, p0603, p00aa, and paa00). When this would happen, the car would have no power/make no boost, shift poorly, and barely idle misfiring very badly and sometimes even stalling.

I tried changing spark plugs, new ignition coils, cleaning injectors, looking for vacuum leaks, cleaning carbon from the intake and valves, and completly removing my JB4. Nothing worked. Last month I found a post on a Kia Stinger forum (same drive train) of someone with the exact same problems, so I reached out and he got back to me a few weeks later. The problem that has been haunting many G70 and Stinger owners alike is a $60 VVT Solenoid. It looks like they tend to go bad some time between 70k-100k l, but they dont throw a code for VVT or cam position, just random cylinder misfire, AFR imbalance, among other codes. I replaced the bad side (the other is still on order) and have had 0 problems in over 2000 miles. High idle is fixed, no misfire, no AFR imbalance, and no limp mode. Below is the link to the part you need. I hope this helps others in the same position.
