  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Took my Genesis for 170 mile drive and it felt amazing. It gave me a average of 28 MPG. Which I think is amazing. My Sonata v6 gives me 22 MPG max on long drives.
Genesis performs extremely well on hilly terrain. BTW what does the Eco mode do? Does it increase the fuel efficiency?

Nice - I regularly take long drives (got the car in July and now have 13K miles on it). It is a pleasure to drive for extended periods of time.

Yes, the ECO mode changes throttle response and transmission behavior. I generally put in ECO on the highway but take it off otherwise. It really retards the acceleration. I like SPORT but that eats gas.

I too average 28mpg on the highway (not the advertised 29) going a steady 75-80mph. I generally use the cruise control so that helps.

Driving my 5.0 Ultimate back and forth to work on in-town roads only, I get 19.8 mpg (calculated) using the ECO button. Not to shabby for a 420hp engine. This last tank the computer has me at 21.8 mpg as of today. Each fill-up I see improvement on the mpg which I think is due to engine break-in. I have a little over 2000 miles on it now. I burn Super Unleaded and strictly Mobil gasoline. After my first oil change I am going to try regular gas just to see what the drop off is on mpg (not as a cost savings, just a test).

I am getting same mileage as you are in my 5.0 mostly about 19.8 mpg around town. Combo driving into work and back I can get avg 21.5 to 22. Most I have ever got was 26. I have about 1,700 miles on mine so far and I am using regular gas 87 grade.

Leaving tomorrow AM for a Florida to San Diego trip. Will report.

According to your sig, you drive a 2012.
Here is the correct forum:

Not only that, I think the moderators should create a separate forum for 2015 Ultimate owners only. It is disgusting to think that a person without the Ultimate Package could be allowed to soil your threads.

Looks like you have a case of failed reading comprehension and I'll call the waambulance for you. Let me help you. Ready?
This forum title clearly states the 2015 Genesis there Einstein. I posted the link for the 2009-2014 Genesis.
Oh that's right. You didn't read that either.

I was just joking. People on this forum have no sense of humor.

Ok. However, go back and reread what you wrote. Maybe in your head as you were composing your post, you thought it was humorous. If you read your post objectively, there is nothing to indicate anything except you were being serious. With that said, moving on.

Mark is kinda strange, got to get to know him. Honestly I still can never tell if he is serious or just kidding half the time. I seriously suggest he use some emoticons so we can begin to understand his unconventional mind. :D

Gotcha.:D

Must be a personal thing - I read Mark's comment and saw it clearly as sarcasm. Emoticons can help, but at some point it is clearly sarcasm from a known poster.

Might be nice to compare how the fuel efficiency of the 5.0 compares with the lowly early Gen1 4.6l

I would be interested in seeing the results of this comparison.

Real comedians don't use emoticons or laugh at their own jokes.

My first long drive was from NC to Cape Cod, then up along the coast to Bar Harbour, Maine. Loved the drive! :D
