  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
2G Genesis Sedan (2015-2016)
Bought a 2015 5.0, Empire State Blue/ black interior. 40k miles and really a clean great running car. My previous car was a 2003 BMW M5 so I wanted to get an good sized sedan with gobs of power. The Genesis really fits the bill, not as quick off the line as the M5 but definitely comparable on the highway. Feather the pedal and the car just moves. Got what I think is a great price @ 21k but I think they thought the head unit was broken. Nav didn't work and a phone would pair and make calls but nothing could be heard on either end of the conversation. There wasn't an SD card in it, Bought the latest map/ software update and everything works great. Looked at a bunch of cars and this one is really clean with a motor that is really quiet. Looked at some 3.8 and 5.0 cars that rattled horribly on startup. Really happy with the car and thought I would introduce myself. I live in the Dfw area btw. Lee

That's actual quite normal in a GDi engine. Welcome and congratulations on your new ride.

$21K w/ 40,000 is a steal. Didn't realize there was an Empire State Blue but there is Empire State Gray... maybe you're thinking Montecito Blue.

BTW - I have the 5.0 Empire State Gray over black. Wanted an Ibiza Blue w/ Ivory (rare AF) but am a happy camper just the same.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations. Good luck, enjoy and be safe.

Sorry your right on the Empire State Grey. Must have had blue on my mind.

congrats! good choice got the mighty v8 .

Pics please.

Enjoy! (y) The v8 makes the car, imho.
All the electronics and safety gizmos are cool, but putting the pedal to the floor and feel that big 5.0 come to life is where the thrill lies. Dramatic difference from the 3.8.

Would really love to get some of the gun metal vorsten wheels on it. Love the look of those.

Man, I want aftermarket wheels until I see a 5.0 like yours and remember how good the car look in stock form.

In my opinion aftermarket wheels only makes the Genesis 5.0 look unique, but not really better. I actually like the stock wheels over the aftermarkets wheels, which is rare for me since I usually swap stock wheels on every car I owned over the years.

i wholeheartedly agree! People do throw plenty of moolah at new custom rims but IMO, the end result, although often quite distinct, rarely matches these original rims for overall visual appeal and complimentary design aesthetic.

Sexy car, congrats! I’m in Longview but work in Tyler, and we come in to DFW at least a couple of weekends a month :)

Congrats - reminds me that I have to get the "Wings" for my trunk!

I like the ESG - My car seems to change color slightly depending on the light....

As much as I want some new wheels, I tend to agree as well. I'm starting to come around to forgetting aftermarket "sporty" wheels and have been considering the 2018 factory wheels or at least replicas (which I do like better than the '15 wheels on the 5.0). There's a certain elegance that factory wheels lend to this car and it's body lines that the cool aftermarket wheels don't. It's almost like they don't match up with the sheet metal with the same aesthetic cohesion that the factory wheels do. I think Mercs, Audi's, and BMW's get away with it better than this car.

That said, there's some great looking rides on this forum with aftermarket wheels and I still may get some.

I check out wheels form time to time on Tire Rack - I just haven't found any that "fit" the look of the Gen that don't scream AFTERMARKET.

The G80 sport wheels definitely look nice. May have to keep a lookout for them. I do find the aftermarket wheels don't seem to hold up as well as oem. Just a matter of how much your willing to spend for forged instead of cast wheels.
